En Portada | Cover Story www.futurenviro.es | Diciembre2021-Enero2022 December2021-January2022 6 Recyclia, entidad administradora de las fundaciones Ecoasimelec, Ecofimática y Ecopilas, nació en abril de 2012 para aprovechar sinergias y aunar la experiencia y el conocimiento acumulado durante dos décadas en el sector del reciclaje de residuos de aparatos eléctricos y electrónicos (RAEE) y de pilas y baterías. Desde entonces, Recyclia ofrece a los productores de todo tipo de aparatos eléctricos y electrónicos y pilas, de tipo doméstico y profesional, un servicio integral de recogida y reciclaje de todas las categorías de residuos establecidas en las normativas española y comunitaria, incluidos los “más novedosos”, entre ellos paneles fotovoltaicos, baterías de vehículo eléctrico e híbrido y cartuchos de tóner y tinta. Bajo la forma constitutiva de Sistemas Colectivos de Responsabilidad Ampliada del Productor (SCRAP), Ecoasimelec, Ecofimática y Ecopilas fueron pioneros en su ámbito, al decidir los productores, voluntariamente, responsabilizarse de la organización y financiación de la recogida y el reciclaje de los aparatos y pilas que ponen en el mercado, al final de su vida útil, adelantándose a las primeras Directivas europeas, del 2002 y 2006. Desde entonces, Recyclia se ha convertido en la entidad del sector de gestión de residuos con más empresas fabricantes e importadoras de dispositivos electrónicos y pilas adheridas, concretamente 1.684 organizaciones registradas en el año 2020. Asimismo, según los últimos datos disponibles correspondientes a 2020, Recyclia gestionó 59.154 toneladas de RAEE y de pilas y baterías ese año, resistiendo así la ralentización generalizada impuesta por la Covid-19. De este total, 51.839 toneladas correspondieron a aparatos electrónicos, cifra con la que la entidad logró el objetivo que se marcó, tras declararse la pandemia, de intentar mantener este volumen de residuos por encima de las 50.000 toneladas, más aún tras el récord de 57.520 toneladas conseguido en 2019. Desde el inicio de su actividad, Recyclia ya ha gestionado 415.720 toneladas de este tipo de residuos. En lo que se refiere a pilas y baterías, la entidad estableció un récord con la recogida, a través de la fundación Ecopilas, de 7.315 toneladas de estos residuos, tanto de tipo doméstico, como industrial y de Recyclia, the entity which manages the Ecoasimelec, Ecofimática and Ecopilas foundations, was created in April 2012 to avail of synergies and combine the experience and knowledge accumulated over two decades in the waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and battery recycling sector. Ecoasimelec, Ecofimática and Ecopilas were pioneers in the field of Extended Producer Responsibility Collective Schemes (EPRCS), when producers voluntarily decided to take responsibility for the organisation and financing of the collection and recycling of the equipment and batteries they placed on the market at the end of their service life prior to the first EU Directives of 2002 and 2006. Since then, Recyclia has become the waste management organisation with the highest number of registered manufacturers and importers of electronic devices and batteries, a total of 1,684 in 2020. The latest available figures indicate that Recyclia managed 59,154 tonnes of WEEE and end-of-life batteries in 2020, thus withstanding the general slowdown arising from the Covid-19 pandemic. Electronic equipment accounted for 51,839 tonnes of the total, enabling the organisation to achieve the target it set itself when the pandemic was declared, i.e., to strive to keep the volume of this waste above 50,000 tonnes following the alltime high of 57,520 tonnes achieved in 2019. Ecopilas, which has managed more than 43,600 tonnes of batteries since it first went into operation, now ranks fifth among European EPR schemes in the management of this waste, according to Eucobat data. Recyclia also has the most extensive collection network in Spain, bringing recycling closer to the consumer with the deployment of more than 91,700 collection points throughout the country.
