En este ámbito, una noticia excelente fue que la Subdirección General de Economía Circular reconociera oficialmente que el hueso no es un residuo, aclarando las dudas de algunas CC.AA. sobre un recurso muy abundante en España y cuya calidad como biocombustible se puede certificar con BIOmasud®. El sector de la bioenergía es muy consciente de la necesidad de certificar la calidad y el origen sostenible de la biomasa como lo demuestra que el 86% del pellet nacional sea ENplus®. Además, este año AVEBIOM se ha convertido en el organismo nacional de apoyo de SURE, sistema europeo de certificación de la sostenibilidad y trazabilidad de la biomasa de acuerdo a los requisitos recogidos en la directiva REDII y que son de obligado cumplimiento para instalaciones de más de 20 MW que funcionen con biocombustibles sólidos y de 2 MW o más si lo hacen con gaseosos. Finalizamos el año con 11 empresas certificadas en España, dos grandes generadores -ENCE y ENSO- y una pyme, el fabricante de pellets Ecowarm, que sin estar obligado a ello demuestra su compromiso y marca el camino para que otras pymes del sector de la bioenergía acrediten su buen hacer ante los consumidores. En 2021, concedimos el premio Fomenta la Bioenergía a las organizaciones internacionales de certificación PEFC y FSC, en reconocimiento a su labor fundamental para lograr un aprovechamiento de la biomasa con las máximas garantías de sostenibilidad. Tras valorar la situación sanitaria del país, en primavera de 2021 decidimos mantener la celebración de Expobiomasa en sus fechas programadas activando un estricto protocolo covid. El resultado fue que el evento nacional de referencia para nuestro sector se convirtió en una de las primeras ferias presenciales de Europa tras el pico de la pandemia y, además, con un éxito de participación y asistencia: 7.500 profesionales de la biomasa y el gas renovable pudieron hacer negocios cara a cara. Este año se ha organizado el primer y muy necesario Salón del Gas Renovable junto con AEBIG, organización hermana con la que seguiremos colaborando en 2022 en nuevos eventos para activar definitivamente este sector estratégico para la descarbonización del país. En 2022 seguiremos trabajando juntocon Apropellets para defender el pellet de calidad y con el Clúster de la Bioenergía de Cataluña y el Clúster de la Biomasa de Galicia en jornadas y seminarios para extender el uso de la biomasa. Al acabar el año hemos avalado el nacimiento del Polo Tecnológico y Empresarial de la Biomasa en Asturias promovido por Hunosa, que consideramos clave para impulsar un recurso tan importante en esta región. And agrobiomass received a great boost when the Subdirectorate General for the Circular Economy officially recognised that bone is not waste, clarifying the doubts of some Autonomous Communities about a very abundant resource in Spain, and one whose quality as a biofuel can be certified by means of BIOmasud®. The bioenergy sector is well aware of the need to certify the quality and sustainable origin of biomass, as evidenced by the fact that 86% of domestic pellets are ENplus®-certified. Moreover, this year saw AVEBIOMbecoming the national support body for SURE, the European system that certifies the sustainability and traceability of biomass in accordance with the requirements of the RED II directive. These requirements are mandatory for facilities of more than 20MWdriven by solid biofuels and facilities of 2MWor more if they run on gaseous fuels. We ended the year with 11 certified companies in Spain, including two large generators -ENCE and ENSO- and one SME, the pellet manufacturer Ecowarm. Without being obliged to do so, Ecowarm is demonstrating its commitment and leading the way for other SMEs in the bioenergy sector to accredit their goodwork to consumers. In 2021, we awarded the Fomenta la Bioenergía prize to the international certification organisations PEFC and FSC, in recognition of the vital work they do to achieve the goal of biomass use with maximum guarantees of sustainability. After assessing the health situation in Spain, in spring 2021 we decided to activate a strict Covid protocol and go ahead with Expobiomasa on the scheduled dates. As a result, the leading Spanish event in our sector became one of the first face-to-face fairs in Europe after the peak of the pandemic. The event enjoyed excellent participation and attendance, with 7,500 biomass and renewable gas professionals availing of the opportunity to do business face-to-face. This year we organised the first and much needed Renewable Gas Exhibition together with AEBIG (Spanish Biogas Association), a sister organisation with which we will continue to collaborate on new events in 2022, with a view to achieving the definitive activation of a strategically vital sector for the decarbonisation of the country. In 2022, we will continue to work together with Apropellets to defend quality pellets. We will also be cooperating with the Bioenergy Cluster of Catalonia and the Biomass Cluster of Galicia on conferences and seminars to extend the use of biomass. At the end of the year, we endorsed the birth of the Biomass Technology and Business Hub in Asturias promoted by Hunosa. We believe this hub to be of key importance in the promotion of such an important resource in this region.
