Situada en el noroeste de Egipto, la depuradora de Bahr Al Baqr tiene una capacidad de caudal punta de 5,6 millones de m3/ día. Cuenta con cuatro líneas de tratamiento con una capacidad de 1.250.000 m3/día cada una, y está equipada con avanzados procedimientos para el bombeo de agua bruta, coagulación, floculación, decantación, filtración y desinfección con el fin de producir agua de calidad óptima para el riego de cultivos locales. El agua tratada irrigará 140.000 hectáreas de tierras de cultivo en las orillas del canal de Suez, poniendo solución al riesgo de contaminación por el vertido de aguas residuales municipales y provenientes de la agricultura y la industria. ACCIONA ha participado en el proyecto como socio tecnológico de la UTE formada por Arab Contrators y Orascom Construction, que se adjudicó el proyecto en 2019, licitado por el Ministerio de Defensa de Egipto y financiado por el Fondo Árabe para el Desarrollo Económico y Social (AFESD) y el Fondo de Kuwait para el Desarrollo Económico Árabe (“Fondo de Kuwait”). Como socio tecnológico, ACCIONA se ha encargado de la ingeniería de proceso, de los equipos electromecánicos y de la supervisión del montaje y la puesta en marcha de la planta, garantizando los parámetros de calidad y tratamiento especificados, seleccionando y supervisando los equipos y procesos de la planta. Located in northwest Egypt, the Bahr-al Baqr plant has a peak flow of 5.6 million m3/day. It has four treatment lines, each with a capacity of 1,250,000 m3/day, and is equipped with advanced mechanisms for the pumping of raw water, coagulation, flocculation, settling, filtration and disinfection to produce water of excellent quality for irrigating crops in the surrounding area. The treated water will be used to irrigate 140,000 hectares of cropland along the banks of the Suez Canal and provide a solution to the risk of pollution due to discharges of municipal wastewater and wastewater from agriculture and industry. ACCIONA participated in the project as a technological partner of a consortiummade up of The Arab Contractors and Orascom Construction. The contract was awarded in 2019 following a call for tenders by the Ministry of Defence of Egypt, with financing from the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.
