Entre otros trabajos, ACCIONA ha construido una nueva planta +de tratamiento de aguas residuales (PTAR) en Varadero, con un caudal máximo de 760 l/seg y equipada con zona de desbaste, tamizado, desarenado y desengrasado, para acondicionar el efluente antes de su vertido al rio Paraguay mediante un emisario subfluvial. También ha ampliado y rehabilitado la red compuesta por 18,61 kilómetros de colectores primarios y 38 kilómetros de colectores secundarios de las redes de saneamiento de la cuenca de Varadero y de la zona norte de la cuenca de Bella Vista, que descargan en la Bahía de Asunción. La rehabilitación de los colectores se ha llevado a cabo mediante tres tipos de tecnología, a saber: convencional con excavación en zanja a cielo abierto, instalación de revestimiento interno de tubería sin apertura de zanja (“relining”) e hinca y perforación en microtúnel, todas ella sin interrumpir el servicio. Asimismo, se ha construido una estación de bombeo en las inmediaciones del Palacio de Gobierno. El proyecto beneficiará de forma directa a unos 250.000 habitantes de la capital paraguaya y, de forma indirecta, a toda la población de la ciudad, ya que se mejorará el entorno natural de la bahía de Asunción y las zonas de la ribera y se dará solución al problema del vertido de las aguas residuales que la contaminan. Las Obras han sido promovidas por el Ministerio de Obras Públicas y Comunicaciones (MOPC) de la República del Paraguay y financiadas por el Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID). Within the scope of the project, ACCIONA built a newWastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) with a maximum flow of 760 l/s in Varadero. The WWTP is equipped with rough filtering, screening, and degritting and degreasing areas to treat the effluent prior to discharge into the Paraguay River via an underwater outfall. The sewer network, composed of 18,61 kilometres of main sewers and 38 kilometres of secondary sewers, in the Varadero basin and the northern part of the Bella Vista basin, which flow into the Bay of Asunción, was extended and upgraded. The pipework was rehabilitated using three types of technology: conventional technology with uncovered trenches, trenchless pipe relining, and micro-tunnel piling and drilling. These operations were all carried out without interruptions to the service. A pumping station was also built in the vicinity of the Government Building. The project will directly benefit around 250,000 people in the Paraguayan capital, and will have indirect benefits for the entire population of the city, through improvements to the environment around the Bay of Asunción and its banks. The work undertaken will provide a solution to the problems associated with contaminating wastewater discharges.
