Dentro del compromiso del Grupo Cosentino con la sostenibilidad y la gestión eficiente de los recursos, se hacía necesario poder disponer de unas infraestructuras que nos permitiesen tanto reducir el impacto medioambiental derivado del transporte de los residuos, como disponer de un espacio enfocado al desarrollo de proyectos de valorización material de los residuos generados. El objetivo del proyecto, desde un primer momento, ha sido dotar al Grupo Cosentino de la capacidad de gestionar internamente los residuos que genera de su actividad, haciéndonos responsables del impacto ambiental que dicha actividad genera y dándonos la oportunidad, además, de promover, investigar y poner en marcha medidas de valorización material de dichos residuos. Adicionalmente, la planta de tratamiento y valorización ha supuesto un ahorro de más del 45% en costes de gestión de residuos, además de una reducción importante del impacto ambiental derivado de la emisión de carbono por transporte (unas 30.000 tn CO2€/año en emisiones indirectas) y lo más importante, la oportunidad que tenemos de usar los residuos como materia prima. En la fábrica de Cosentino en Cantoria (Almería) se gestionan diariamente más de 1.000 tn de residuos tanto peligrosos como no peligrosos e inertes. De ellas, aproximadamente el 95% corresponden a Residuos No Peligrosos e Inertes gestionados directamente por Soluciones Ambientales CoMA en la planta de tratamiento y valorización de Residuos. Los principales residuos gestionados son lodos de proceso, y restos de tablas rotas y/o defectuosas. In addition, the waste treatment and recovery plant has enabled a reduction of over 45% in waste management costs and a significant reduction in the environmental impact associated with carbon emissions from transport (around 30,000 t CO2/annum in indirect emissions). And, most importantly, it has provided the company with the opportunity to use waste as raw material. More than 1,000 t of hazardous, and non-hazardous and inert waste is managed each day at the Cosentino factory in Cantoria (Almeria). Description of the facility The CoMA waste treatment and recovery plant currently comprises two waste cells, one for non-hazardous waste and the other for inert waste, as well as the auxiliary equipment typically associated with any facility of this type (scales, leachate pond, etc).
