Este artículo pretende dar respuesta a la petición que FUTURENVIRO hizo a AQUA ESPAÑA de analizar, según nuestra perspectiva, el año 2020, y compartir los pronósticos y peticiones para el 2021, en el sector del agua que representamos. We could summarise everything by saying that 2020 has been a year marked by COVID-19, which has seriously damaged our economy. However, the companies affiliated to AQUA ESPAÑA (Spanish Association of Water Treatment and Management Companies) were capable of satisfactorily managing adversity and now see 2021 as a positive year, in which significant improvement is expected due to the consolidation of the new normality and the boost to the water sector that should be provided by the Spanish Economic Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (Spain Can Plan). COVID-19 hit companies from all economic sectors and the water sector was no exception, though the results were different to those of other sectors. The essential nature of water analysis, control and treatment services, beyond urban supply and wastewater treatment, meant that the activity of the sector was not interrupted. This is because such services are vital for agriculture, industry, services and people. However, we rapidly saw that not all private companies would address the new COVID-19 context in the same way. A differentiating factor would be the diversity of their client portfolio, the profile of their employees and their financial situation.
