www.futurenviro.es FuturEnviro | Noviembre/Diciembre November/December 2020 5 Editorial Editorial 2021, año de planes de recuperación e impulso del sector del agua En este número de agua contamos con tribunas de análisis y opinión de los principales expertos del sector, voces más que autorizadas, para analizar las oportunidades asociadas a la política europea del agua en tiempos de planes de recuperación; la alineación de los objetivos de la política de agua a los de desarrollo económico y social; y la innovación tecnológica y de políticas públicas. Durante este año, estaremos muy en contacto con el sector, más si cabe, para difundir y anticiparnos a los pasos del mercado en el sector del agua, ante las iniciativas europeas para hacer frente a la crisis e impulsar la transición ecológica y digital. Así como de los cambios normativos y avances tecnológicos que marcarán la senda hacia la economía circular en el sector del agua, tanto en la reutilización como el aprovechamiento de subproductos o la generación de energías renovables. Además en el marco de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) y del Pacto Verde formulado por la Unión Europea, se perfila una situación ideal para que el sector del agua y medioambiental aporte su granito de arena y sea idóneo para ser una posible palanca de recuperación y adaptación, y a su vez un gran impulsor del Green Deal, que a su vez permitirá recuperar el empleo perdido en la crisis. A nivel nacional, el Plan de Recuperación, Transformación y Resiliencia, destinará 100 M€, para que las Comunidades Autónomas puedan llevar a cabo inversiones en saneamiento y depuración en aglomeraciones urbanas comprendidas entre los 2.000 y los 5.000 habitantes equivalentes, que no cumplan con los requisitos establecidos en la Directiva sobre tratamiento de aguas residuales urbanas. La pandemia de la COVID-19 ha puesto de manifiesto la importancia vital del saneamiento, la higiene y un acceso adecuado a agua limpia para prevenir y contener las enfermedades. La Agenda 2030 da respuesta a los retos que ha puesto de manifiesto el COVID-19 y pocas afectan tanto a la vida de tantas personas, y pueden contribuir tanto a la creación de nuevo marco de sostenibilidad, como la gestión del agua y de los recursos hídricos en todos los niveles, y así garantizar la consecución del ODS-6. Es por ello que hemos querido incluir en nuestro calendario editorial los ODS y la Agenda 2030 como un pilar fundamental de nuestro medio. 2021, a year of recovery plans and impetus for the water sector This issue of FuturEnviro features opinion and analysis articles from the leading experts in the world of water. The most authoritative voices in the sector examine the opportunities afforded by European water policy at a time of recovery plans, alignment of water targets with economic and social objectives, and innovation in technology and public policies. Throughout this year, we will be in closer contact than ever with the sector to provide information and anticipate events in the water market, in the context of European initiatives to address the crisis, and drive ecological transition and digital transformation. We will also be covering the legislative changes and technological breakthroughs that promise to map the route to the circular economy in the water sector in terms of reuse, availing of by-products and renewable energy generation. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the European Green Deal may well provide the perfect framework for the water and environment sector to make its contribution and potentially serve as the ideal driver of recovery and adaptation. The sector could also be a driving force behind the Green Deal, which would enable jobs lost during the crisis to be recovered. At national level, the Spanish Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan will allocate 100 million euro to the Autonomous Communities for investment in sanitation and wastewater treatment facilities. This money has been earmarked for small urban areas with population equivalents of between 2,000 and 5,000 that currently do not comply with the requirements set out in the Directive on urban wastewater treatment. The COVID-19 pandemic has underlined the vital importance of sanitation, hygiene and adequate access to clean water in the prevention and containment of disease. The 2030 Agenda provides a response to the challenges highlighted by COVID-19. Few areas affect the lives of so many people and can make a greater contribution to the creation of a new framework of sustainability and achieving SDG 6 than water management at all levels. Hence, our wish to include the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda in our Editorial Programme as a fundamental pillar of our publication.
