El Noveno Bosque SIGAUS, en el barrio de La Legua, al oeste de la capital castellano-manchega, es un nuevo bosque urbano de 1.000 pinos carrasco que es producto del Convenio firmado entre SIGAUS y el consistorio toledano el pasado mes de febrero, y que se enmarca en la política de Responsabilidad Social de SIGAUS, que ya ha plantado nueve bosques similares a este. Tras suspenderse, a causa de la pandemia del coronavirus, los trabajos inicialmente previstos para el pasado mes de marzo, a finales de noviembre concluía la plantación del Noveno Bosque SIGAUS: 3,3 hectáreas con 1.000 Pinus halepensis que aumentan las zonas verdes de la ciudad y la dotación de parques y jardines de un barrio en pleno crecimiento como es el de La Legua. Los 1.000 pinos carrasco que ya crecen serán capaces de absorber, tras 20 años, casi 31 toneladas de CO2, convirtiéndose así en un nuevo pulmón verde de la ciudad del Tajo. SIGAUS lleva años tratando de concienciar a través de iniciativas que van más allá de la gestión del aceite usado, como los Bosques SIGAUS, en los que los participantes en distintos concursos en las redes sociales pueden poner su nombre a los árboles plantados, que ya ascienden a 9.000 en Toledo y en 8 ciudades de los alrededores de Madrid. The Ninth SIGAUSWood is located in the district of La Legua, in the east of the capital of Castilla-La Mancha. This new urban wood consists of 1,000 Aleppo pines and is the result of an agreement entered into by SIGAUS and Toledo City Council in February. The new wood is in line with SIGAUS’ Social Responsibility policy, which has already resulted in the plantation of nine similar woods. The work initially envisaged to take place in March and suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, was finally completed at the end of November, resulting in the plantation of the Ninth SIGAUSWood: 3.3 hectares with 1,000 Pinus Halepensis, which serve to enlarge the surface area of green zones in the city, and the number of parks and gardens in the rapidly growing district of La Legua. After 20 years, the 1,000 Aleppo pines now growing will be capable of absorbing almost 31 tonnes of CO2, representing a new breath of fresh air in the city situated on the Tagus. For many years, SIGAUS has sought to raise awareness through initiatives that go beyond the management of used oil, such as the SIGAUSWoods. Through competitions held on social media, participants can put their names on the 9,000 trees that have been planted to date in Toledo and 8 cities in the surrounding areas of Madrid.
