Gestión y tratamiento de residuos | Waste Management & Treatment Uno de los retos de más envergadura en el territorio de la metrópolis de Barcelona es la gestión integral de los residuos, empezando por la prevención y dando los pasos necesarios para pasar de una economía lineal a una economía circular donde materiales, productos y componentes alarguen su vida o encuentren un nuevo uso. Sobre esta base, el objetivo principal del PREMET25 es dar cumplimiento a los mandatos de la Unión Europea: una tasa de reciclaje del 55% en 2025 y del 60% en 2030. La nueva filosofía de gestión de los residuos metropolitanos queda recogida en el Acuerdo Metropolitano hacia el Residuo Cero, un pacto suscrito por el AMB y los 36 municipios metropolitanos. La recogida selectiva en la metrópolis de Barcelona La Agència de Residus de Catalunya ha publicado recientemente los datos generales de recogida selectiva en Catalunya del 2019. La media catalana se sitúa al 44,8%, mientras que la del área metropolitana, a pesar de haber alcanzado su máximo histórico, está en un 37,4%. Más allá de los datos globales, la recogida selectiva en el ámbito del AMB presenta unos resultados muy variables en los diferentes municipios, con un mínimo del 23% y un máximo del 85% (en los municipios con un sistema de recogida puerta a puerta). Hay 8 municipios metropolitanos que superan el 50% de recogida selectiva (y que cumplen los niveles de la UE para 2020), 15 municipios que se sitúan por encima de la media de los municipios y 13 municipios que se sitúan por debajo de esta media. Según Eloi Badia, vicepresidente de Ecología de la AMB, “queda todavía mucho trabajo por hacer para llegar a los índices que nos marca la UE, aunque cada vez son más los municipios metropolitanos que están avanzando de manera decidida en la introducción de mejoras. El gran salto de la recogida selectiva en Catalunya debe venir, y vendrá, de la mano de los municipios metropolitanos, pero hay una acción concertada, coordinada y con el máximo apoyo para acompañar a los municipios en esta transición”. PREMET25: el plan de impulso para la economía circular en la metrópolis El PREMET25 adquiere, en este contexto, una importancia estratégica. El programa se estructura en cinco ejes, que abordan tanto la prevención de residuos como su gestión eficiente una vez generados. Así, las grandes líneas del plan son: prevención, recogida, tratamiento, gobernanza y educación ambiental. Selective collection in the metropolis of Barcelona The CatalanWaste Agency (Agència de Residus de Catalunya) recently published general data on selective collection in Catalonia for 2019. The average selective collection rate for Catalonia was 44.8%, while the average for the metropolitan area, despite being an all-time high, was somewhat lower at 37.4%. Looking beyond the overall figures, the results for selective collection varied greatly in the different municipalities of the AMB, ranging from a minimum rate of 23% to a maximum of 85% (in municipalities with door-to-door collection systems). The programme is structured in five pillars, which address both waste prevention and efficient management of the waste produced. The main pillars of the plan are: prevention, collection, treatment, governance and environmental education.
