• Screening and dispatch area for refined material. • Storage silos (3) for finished compost. • Storage silo for refining process reject. In the reception area, a wheel loader or farm tractor collects the waste and feeds it into the defibring machine, which is located in an adjacent area. Prior to defibring, primary separation of reject material is carried out and this is stored in the outdoor storage area. • The very powerful shredder features rotating rollers and extremely hard metal hammers, through which the waste branches and trunks are dragged by the rotation of the rollers. This movement causes the material to be torn and chopped in the direction of the wood fibres. • The defibring machine is fed in such a way that balanced quantities of green fractions (leaves, grasses) are chopped along with wood in order to achieve a material of sufficient heterogeneity and a suitable carbon/nitrogen ratio for the subsequent composting process. The entire operation of loading, mixing, feeding and defibring is controlled by the driver, who also directs the movements of the defibring machine by means of remote control. • The latency and growth phase begins to develop during this stage, which requires the time needed for the microorganisms to acclimatise to their new environment and begin to multiply.
