Marguerite Fund, el fondo pan-europeo de infraestructuras, con sede en Luxemburgo, adquirió el 90% del proyecto en 2017, el 10% restante quedó en manos de la firma portuguesa FPT Energia e Ambiente. Marguerite está comprometido con el aprovechamiento energético sostenible de la biomasa, que permite una importante reducción de emisiones, y actúa como catalizador de las inversiones en energía renovable en Europa. Ambas plantas queman residuos forestales de las florestas portuguesas (principalmente pino y eucalipto) en una caldera de biomasa, para producir vapor sobrecalentado (440 ºC y 62 bar), que impulsa una turbina de vapor para producir electricidad que se vende a la red; con un consumo anual de biomasa de 138.386 t (basado en un combustible con un contenido de humedad del 38,65%). Las calderas de biomasa, suministrados por Gestamp Energy Solutions, tienen una eficiencia térmica del 89,5%. Estas calderas son conocidas por su flexibilidad, que les permite quemar una amplia gama de combustibles con diferentes contenidos de humedad. La eficiencia eléctrica bruta de cada planta está en torno al 29,5%. La disponibilidad de las plantas garantizada en el contrato de operación y mantenimiento a partir del segundo año es de 105.000 MWh/año, equivalente al 90,5%. La operación y el mantenimiento son proporcionados por Magestop Lda., firma portuguesa propiedad de Gestamp Biomass al 75% y FPT Energia e Ambiente al 25%. El Instituto de Crédito Oficial (ICO), el Banco BPI S.A. y Millennium bcp han participado en la financiación de estos dos proyectos, contribuyendo con aproximadamente 80 M€ de deuda a largo plazo. Por su parte, Ghesa Ingeniería y Tecnología ha participado en estos proyectos desde la fase inicial de los mismos, en el diseño de las plantas, y posteriormente ha desarrollado para el contratista EPC, la ingeniería básica y de detalle de todas las especialidades implicadas (proceso, mecánico, eléctrico, instrumentación y control, civil y arquitectura), con el alcance completo para el diseño de este tipo de instalaciones. Se espera que las dos plantas creen más de 60 nuevos empleos y contribuyan indirectamente a crear 300 más en toda la cadena de valor de la biomasa. Las plantas también ayudarán a reducir el riesgo de incendios forestales, un problema recurrente en Portugal. Both plants burn forest waste from Portuguese forests (mainly pine and eucalyptus) in a biomass steam generator to produce superheated steam (440ºC and 62 bar), which drives a steam turbine to produce electricity subsequently sold to the grid. The plants have a yearly biomass consumption of 138,386 t (based on a fuel with a moisture content of 38.65%). The biomass steam generators, provided by Gestamp Energy Solutions, have a thermal efficiency of 89.5%. These steam generators are known for their flexibility, which allows them to burn a wide range of fuels with different moisture contents. The gross electrical efficiency of each plant is in the region of 29.5%. The availability of the power plants guaranteed in the O&M contract from year two onwards is 105,000MWh/year, equivalent to 90.5%. Operation and maintenance will be provided by Magestop Lda., a Portuguese company in which Gestamp Biomass has a 75% stake, with the remaining 25% held by FPT Energia e Ambiente. The Official Credit Institute (ICO), Banco BPI S.A. and Millennium bcp have participated in the financing of these two projects, contributing approximately €80 million in long-term debt. Ghesa Ingeniería y Tecnología has been involved in these projects from the outset. The company initially worked on the design of the plants and subsequently supplied the EPC contractor with the basic and detailed engineering associated with the different specialised areas (process, mechanical and electrical engineering, instrumentation & control, civil engineering and architecture). The scope of supply included the full range of design elements associated with facilities of this type. The two plants are expected to create more than 60 new jobs and indirectly contribute to creating 300 more throughout the biomass value chain.
