www.futurenviro.es FuturEnviro | Febrero February 2020 5 Editorial Editorial 2020, comenzamos una nueva década de grandes cambios y oportunidades para el sector del agua Como corresponde a este primer especial de agua del año y más estrenando década, como viene siendo habitual, contamos con tribunas de análisis y opinión de los principales expertos del sector, voces más que autorizadas, para analizar todos los nichos de mercado de la gestión y tratamiento del agua, tanto desde el punto de vista de lo que deparará el mercado, como de los cambios normativos y avances tecnológicos que marcarán la senda hacia la economía circular en el sector del agua para esta nueva década, tanto en la reutilización como el aprovechamiento de subproductos o la generación de energías renovables. Además de la reutilización, hay que repensar y cambiar el modelo productivo para consumir menos agua. En este número tratamos con especial hincapié, la gestión y tratamiento de aguas residuales, la huella hídrica, el riego eficiente y el enfoque de proyectos y productos hacía una Smart Water, más inteligente, más eficiente y más respetuosa con el medio ambiente. El próximo 22 de marzo se celebra el Día Mundial del Agua, una magnífica oportunidad para reflexionar sobre la importancia de la buena gestión de este recurso de vital importancia para los seres humanos y el conjunto del medio ambiente en nuestro planeta. En esta ocasión, el Día Mundial del Agua tiene como lema “Agua y cambio climático”. El Día Mundial del Agua de 2020, trata sobre el agua y el cambio climático, y cómo ambos están inseparablemente unidos. La correcta gestión y tratamiento del agua, en consonancia con la lucha contra el cambio climático, protegerá la salud y salvará vidas. El uso más eficiente del agua reducirá los gases de efecto invernadero. No podemos permitirnos esperar, todos tenemos un papel crucial. 2020: we begin a new decade of great changes and opportunities for the water sector As is customary, in this first issue on water of the year, and indeed the decade, we turn to the leading experts in the sector, the voices of authority, to analyse all the segments of the water management and treatment market. This includes analysis of what the market will bring, and the legislative changes and technological breakthroughs that will mark the path towards the circular economy in the water sector in this new decade, in terms of reuse, availing of by-products and the generation of renewable energy. In addition to reuse, it is necessary to rethink and change the production model in order to reduce water consumption. In this issue, we place special emphasis on wastewater management and treatment, water footprint, efficient irrigation, and the ways in which projects and products are focusing on Smart Water, so as to ensure more intelligent, more efficient and more environmentally friendly use of the resource. WorldWater Day on March 22, with the theme of “Water and Climate Change”, will provide a magnificent opportunity to reflect on the importance of the correct management of a resource that is so vital to human beings and the environmental wellbeing of our planet. WorldWater Day 2020 focuses on water and climate change, and the way in which the two are inextricably linked. Correct water management and treatment, in harmony with combating climate change, will protect health and save lives. More efficient water use will reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We cannot afford to wait.We all have a crucial role to play.
