El Proyecto financiado por la UE, en el que AIMPLAS es un socio clave, empezó el 1 de enero del 2019 y tiene una duración de 49 meses. El consorcio del proyecto, coordinado por el centro belga de I+D, CENTEXBEL, está formado por 17 socios de toda Europa que engloban toda la cadena de valor, incluyendo desde el diseño de instalaciones, la fabricación materias primas, recubrimientos y piezas plásticas y textiles o centros de investigación y desarrollo, entre otros. En este primer año de proyecto, el consorcio ha estado trabajando principalmente en el desarrollo de los materiales activables inteligentes y su incorporación en los recubrimientos, también en los sistemas de detección y separación de las piezas que incluyan los nuevos recubrimientos en la corriente de reciclado y AIMPLAS, concretamente, se ha focalizado en la optimización de los procesos de recubrimiento de piezas plásticas con las nuevas formulaciones activables desarrolladas a nivel de planta piloto. El rol de AIMPLAS en el proyecto DECOAT en los siguientes años incluirá la selección de los componentes de la línea piloto de reciclaje, así como participar en la configuración y evaluación de la línea piloto para reciclar piezas plásticas recubiertas del sector eléctricoelectrónico y automoción. Además, AIMPLAS abordará el análisis de calidad de los materiales reciclados y la evaluación de su uso potencial. AIMPLAS y la Economía circular AIMPLAS participa en este proyecto y desarrolla estas investigaciones en línea con su compromiso con la sostenibilidad medioambiental. Gracias a ello, las empresas del sector pueden introducir los criterios de la Economía Circular en su modelo de negocio y convertir los cambios legislativos que les afectan en oportunidades para mejorar su eficiencia, reducir su impacto ambiental y aumentar su rentabilidad económica.
