www.futurenviro.es FuturEnviro | Noviembre November 2019 5 Editorial Editorial Hablar de emergencia climática es hablar de emergencia hídrica El informe del Panel Intergubernamental sobre Cambio Climático de Naciones Unidas (IPCC), asegura que en 2025 el 25% de la población mundial sufrirá escasez de agua recurrente. En España la disponibilidad de recursos hídricos podría reducirse en un 40% en algunos de los escenarios de cambio climático que plantean los expertos, que apuntan que la mayor parte de los impactos de esta emergencia climática están relacionados con el agua. Las evidencias científicas ponen a la gestión del agua y los recursos hídricos, como uno de los temas claves de la Cumbre del Clima de Madrid y uno de los grandes retos para un futuro más sostenible, tal y como se contempla en los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS6). El sector del agua en España ha avanzado mucho en la incorporación de la economía circular en la gestión del agua urbana y los niveles de reutilización de los recursos hídricos de España, en algunas regiones superan el 70% dejándonos a la cabeza mundial casi a la altura de Israel. En este número que tiene en sus manos contamos con unas interesantes páginas dedicadas al Smart Water. La innovación y las nuevas tecnologías juegan un importante papel en el sector del agua, ya que contribuyen a una mayor optimización de los recursos y los medios de producción y a facilitar la gestión de la explotación y a la mejora de su productividad y eficiencia. Es por ello que en nuestro calendario editorial para 2020, hemos ampliado el número de especiales de Smart Water, riego, drones y huella hídrica. Como este es el último número de este año que dedicamos al sector del agua, queremos agradecer a los lectores, colaboradores y anunciantes vuestro apoyo y aquí tenéis nuestra mano para pasear juntos en este año 2020 que seguro vendrá lleno de grandes proyectos en materia de gestión y tratamiento de agua y felicidad profesional y personal. To speak of climate emergency is to speak of water emergency The most recent report of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) indicates that, by 2025, 25% of the world’s population will suffer from recurring water scarcity. In Spain, availability of water resources could fall by 40% in some of the climate change scenarios envisaged by experts, who point out that the majority of the impacts associated with this climate emergency are water-related. The scientific evidence makes water and water resource management one of the key items on the agenda at the Madrid Climate Summit, and one of the great challenges associated with achieving a more sustainable future, as envisaged in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG6). The water sector in Spain has made significant progress in terms of incorporating the circular economy into urban water management. Reuse rates of over 70% in some regions makes Spain a global leader in this area, almost at the same level as Israel. Innovation and new technologies play an important role in the water sector, contributing as they do to greater optimisation of resources and production means, whilst facilitating management of infrastructures, and improving productivity and efficiency.
