El Complejo Petroquímico de Repsol en Puertollano cuenta con una superficie de 430 hectáreas, y es el único de la compañía en España capaz de fabricar toda la gama de derivados del petróleo. Repsol procesa en este complejo 7,5 millones de toneladas al año. Este nueva instalaciónha sido diseñadamediante el procesoACTIFLO™ Turbo para la clarificación de agua con decantación lastrada con microarena, que permitirá el tratamiento del agua de salida de los decantadores secundarios,conuna capacidadmáximadehasta 1.200metros cúbicos a la hora. Con este tratamiento adicional, se mejora la calidad de las aguas que se aportan al cauce del río Ojailén, según normativa BREF de aplicación en el sector de refino. Además, permite aumentar la cantidad de agua de calidad que puede ser reutilizada para uso industrial, lo que supone un importante ahorro en el consumo de agua del Complejo, aumentando así la eficiencia en el uso de los recursos. El principal avance del proceso ACTIFLO™ Turbo, y que lo diferencia de otras tecnologías convencionales, es la adición de microarena como base para la formación de flóculos de alta densidad, los cuales son fácilmente eliminados por decantación. El proceso ACTIFLO™ es un sistema robusto, muy eficaz y compacto, siendo precisamente esta última característica un factor decisivo en este proyecto, ya que el espacio de implantación disponible en las instalaciones de Repsol era muy reducido. The Repsol Petrochemical Complex in Puertollano has a surface area of 430 hectares and is the company’s only facility in Spain capable of producing the entire range of petroleum-derived products. Repsol processes 7.5 million tonnes per annum at this complex. The design of the new facility is based on the ACTIFLO™ Turbo microsand ballasted clarification process, which enables treatment of the outflow from the secondary settling tanks, with a maximum capacity of 1,200 cubic metres per hour. This additional treatment enhances the quality of the water discharged into the River Ojailén, in accordance with the BREF document regulating the refining sector. Moreover, it increases the quantity of quality water available for industrial reuse, resulting in a significant reduction in water consumption at the complex, thus optimising resource efficiency. The main breakthrough associated with the ACTIFLO™ Turbo process, and what sets it apart from conventional technologies, is the addition of microsand as the basis for the formation of high-density flocs, which are easily removed in the settling process. ACTIFLO™ is a robust, extremely efficient and compact system. The small footprint was of vital importance in this project, due to the scarcity of available space at the Repsol Complex. This project forms part of the Quality Enhancement Plan for used industrial water at the Puertollano Complex. This Plan sets out a number of commitments, one of which is “to use and manage water resources efficiently and improve water quality for reuse”. The scope of Veolia’s participation in the project included the design, supply, assembly (hydraulic) and commissioning of the ACTIFLO™ Turbo package plant. Description of the process General description of the ACTIFLO™ Turbo process The ACTIFLO™ process is very similar to the technology implemented in conventional physicochemical treatment (coagulation, flocculation, settling).
