www.futurenviro.es FuturEnviro | Octubre October 2019 5 Editorial Editorial La transformación digital en la industria de los residuos muy presente en nuestro programa editorial para 2020 Vivimos en plena explosión de la robótica y tenemos por delante años de transformación de la mano de estos equipos, en el sector de la gestión y tratamiento de residuos, siendo grandes aliados para alcanzar una economía circular plena. Tanto detrás de la economía circular como del fenómeno Smart y de sus diferentes manifestaciones, hoy día disponemos de herramientas sinérgicas entre las que cabe citar el Big Data, la digitalización, el IoT (“Internet of Things”), la robótica, la sensórica, la geolocalización y la Industria 4.0, herramientas que nos harán alcanzar esa sostenibilidad integral, con una minimización de los costes de operación y del impacto medioambiental. Una de las aplicaciones del Big Data a Smart Waste, es el poder transformar los datos para el establecimiento de rutas dinámicas de recogida, mediante estimaciones de variación del volumen de los residuos por contenedor y ruta, en función de la composición demográfica de la zona y de la estacionalidad. Conceptos como el Big Data, la Inteligencia Artificial (IA), el Internet de las Cosas (IoT) o la Realidad Aumentada (RA), la conectividad en la nube para disponer de los datos para su uso en aplicaciones analíticas y servicios digitales, son claves en el futuro del sector de la gestión y tratamiento de los residuos que van adquiriendo cada vez más relevancia y que hemos incluido en todos los números de nuestro programa editorial para 2020, con el marcado objetivo de difundir todos los avances y tecnologías en este ámbito. These machines will be our great allies in the quest to achieve a fully circular economy. Driving both the circular economy and the different manifestations of the Smart phenomenon, we have synergic tools such as Big Data, digitisation, the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, advanced sensor technology, geolocation and Industry 4.0, tools which will enable us to achieve global sustainability with a minimisation of operating costs and environmental impact. Amongst the applications of Big Data in the field of Smart Waste is the capacity to process data to create dynamic collection routes, through estimates of variations in waste volume by container and by route, taking into account factors such as the demographic composition of the area and seasonality. Concepts such as Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), IoT and Augmented Reality (AR), as well as cloud connectivity in order to access data for analytical applications and digital services, are of key importance to the future of the waste management and treatment sector. These concepts are becoming increasingly relevant and will be covered in all the issues that form part of our 2020 editorial programme, with the very explicit goal of providing information on all the breakthroughs and technologies in this field.
