El consorcio REINWASTE, formado por influyentes grupos de opinión en la zona Mediterránea, en el campo de la prevención de residuos agroalimentarios, trabajará para mejorar la red transnacional de competencia, seleccionar y probar las mejores soluciones disponibles y transferir rápidamente este conocimiento. Con ello, se busca fortalecer los servicios de apoyo a la innovación en la cadena agroalimentaria y la cooperación transnacional en dichas regiones, ya que en la actualidad resultan insuficientes, además de superar la barrera del enfoque tradicional «local» para la transferencia de tecnología. Gracias a un análisis inicial combinando soluciones tecnológicas avanzadas (de proyectos de I+D de la UE) y necesidades reales de las empresas, se estudiarán tres cadenas de valor (láctea en Italia; hortofrutícola en España; cárnica en Francia) y la viabilidad de lanzar un nuevo servicio para sistematizar la oferta-demanda de soluciones innovadoras para la prevención de los residuos. Concretamente, el proyecto pretende que los residuos inorgánicos generados en los sistemas agroalimentarios (tales como envases, embalajes, plásticos, sacos, botellas, etc. tanto de los sistemas productivos como de la industria agroalimentaria) sean gestionados conforme al paradigma actual de la bioeconomía y la economía circular. The REINWASTE consortium is made up of influential opinion groups in the field of agricultural waste prevention in the Mediterranean area. The consortium will work on improving the transnational competence network, selecting and testing the best available solutions and rapidly transferring this knowledge. The aim is to strengthen innovation support services in the agrofood chain and transnational cooperation in the aforementioned regions. As of now, these aspects are not sufficiently consolidated and it is also necessary to overcome the barrier of the traditional “local” approach in order to facilitate technology transfer. Subsequent to preliminary analysis combining technologically advanced solutions (from EU R&D projects) and the real needs of companies, three value chains will be studied (dairy products in Italy; horticultural products in Spain; and meat products in France). The feasibility of launching a new service to systemise the supply and demand of innovative waste prevention solutions will also be studied. The project specifically seeks to ensure that inorganic waste generated in agro-food systems (such as containers, packaging, plastics, bags, bottles, etc., from both production systems and agro-food products) is managed in accordance with current bio-economy and circular economy models. The aim is to promote a more sustainable agro-food system through the implementation of innovative waste management models and to foster the use of new materials made of bio-materials and biotechnology techniques, as well as sustainable management practices. Este proyecto europeo está enmarcado dentro de las iniciativas en innovación para el crecimiento y desarrollo sostenible de la industria agroalimentaria. Bajo el lema “evitar la eliminación de residuos es más sostenible y menos costoso”, REINWASTE se enmarca dentro del programa de cooperación europeo INTERREG MED, que tiene como objetivo la innovación en el marco de la economía circular dentro de las empresas de alimentación y bebidas con el objetivo de garantizar el crecimiento y el desarrollo sostenible en la industria agroalimentaria en las regiones en el área del Mediterráneo.
