Gestión y tratamiento de residuos | Waste Management & Treatment FuturEnviro | Julio July 2019 www.futurenviro.es 59 En este marco, cobra especial importancia la recogida selectiva de residuos y más si tenemos en cuenta que los modelos que está impulsando la Unión Europea hacen necesaria la puesta en marcha de más inversiones a nivel municipal para realizar una correcta gestión de los residuos y su posterior tratamiento, siendo la concienciación de los ciudadanos para garantizar una correcta separación en los hogares. Precisamente, con estos planteamientos de eficiencia y concienciación ciudadana, Ecoembes –a través de TheCircularLab- ha puesto en marcha el proyecto Smart Waste, en colaboración con con Minsait, la unidad de negocio de Indra que da respuesta a los retos de la transformación digital en empresas e instituciones. Se trata de una plataforma de gestión de la información y análisis de datos, destinada a optimizar la gestión local de los residuos, mejorar la calidad de vida de los ciudadanos y fomentar su participación. Inteligencia Colectiva Smart Waste está enmarcada dentro de los planteamientos transversales de las ciudades inteligentes, utilizando la información de distintas fuentes de datos, como sensores en vehículos, contenedores y plantas de selección, redes sociales y otras fuentes de información ciudadana y servicios de la ciudad. Mediante esta concepción transversal se ha construido la plataforma, contextualizada en todo momento con el ciudadano y el conocimiento de sus hábitos y patrones de comportamiento, dando respuesta a las expectativas y necesidades de todos los agentes de interés. In this context, selective waste collection is of special importance and more so if we bear in mind that the models being driven by the EU make it necessary to have greater investment at municipal level in order to achieve correct waste management and subsequent treatment. And raising awareness amongst citizens in order to ensure correct waste separation in the home is of vital importance. It is precisely with these objectives of efficiency and citizen awareness that Ecoembes –through TheCircularLab- has initiated the Smart Waste project, in collaboration with Minsait, the Indra business unit that responds to the challenges of digital transformation in companies and institutions. The project centres around an information management and data analysis platform aimed at optimising local management of waste, improving the quality of life of citizens and encouraging their participation. Collective Intelligence Smart Waste falls within the transversal concept of Smart Cities, using information from different data sources, such as sensors in vehicles, containers and sorting plants, social media and other sources of citizen information and information on municipal services. The platform was built on the basis of this transversal concept, and contextualised at all times to take into account citizens, and information on their habits and behaviour patterns in order to provide a response to the expectations and needs of all stakeholders. With this approach, municipalities or entities that manage waste as municipal associations or public service consortiums can learn from each other and progress towards an intelligent territorial model in which they can compare their performance constructively and improve the efficiency and quality of services. SMART WASTE, TECNOLOGÍA APLICADA A LA GESTIÓN DE RESIDUOS La Unión Europea está potenciando, a través de sus directivas, cada vez más la recogida selectiva de los residuos municipales, garantizando que los materiales puedan disponer de una segunda vida. Por eso, Ecoembes, dentro de su compromiso con la economía circular, lleva 20 años promoviendo el reciclaje de los envases domésticos en España. Durante este tiempo, la organización medioambiental ha apostado por la innovación y la tecnología para hacer cada vez más eficiente la gestión de estos residuos. Por eso, decidió crear TheCircularLab que, localizado en Logroño, es el único centro de innovación en el mundo especializado en este ámbito de los envases. For this reason, Ecoembes, within the framework of its commitment to the circular economy, has been promoting the recycling of domestic packaging in Spain for 20 years. During this time, the environmental organisation has been committed to innovation and technology in order tomake the management of thiswaste more and more efficient. And this iswhy Ecoembes decided to set up TheCircularLab. Located in Logroño, this is the only innovation centre in theworld that specialises in the area of packaging.
