abs ASSOCIATIONS GEDAC: The Catalonia Lift Guild (GEDAC) celebrates its 40th anniversary, 1977-2017. Throughout its 40 years of history, the Gremi Empresarial d’ Ascensors de Catalunya has carried out intense activity for the benefit of its associates and the vertical transport sector in general. The lines of action could be summarized in three main blocks that focus the efforts made: participation in institutions and organizations, regulation and training. FEPYMA. On 22 and 23 February 2018, it will organize the 1st lift SME Congress in Madrid. On the 4 October and 17 November 2017, FEPYMA held in Madrid and Valencia, respectively, working meetings with Lift SMEs for Safety and Quality of Service. During the international fair, Interlift’ 17, in which FEPYMA was present, it actively participated in the assembly and the management committee of EFESME. FEPYMA has created accounts on Twitter, Linkedin and Facebook and in recent months has organized several Online Technical Meetings with different themes. FEPYMA participates in the creation of new regulations. FEEDA. The FEEDA Executive Committee paid a warm tribute to Javier de Pozo, President of the Federation until May 2017. The Madrid Lift Business Association (AEAM) celebrated the 40th anniversary of its creation. The Region of Madrid is preparing a Renovation Plan aimed at undertaking renovations to improve safety and energy saving in old lifts in the residential sector, as progress was made at the opening of the conference on ‘Saving, Energy Efficiency and Safety of Lifts’. FEEDA organized a conference to discuss the future of vertical transport systems. EFESME. The European Federation of Lift SMEs proposes various measures to encourage collaboration with the drafting of regulations. FAIRS AND CONGRESSES Interlift 2017. This year’s event was expected to be a promising one, with a record participation of 574 companies and the attendance of 21,260 trade visitors helping Interlift 2017 to achieve another new record. With a quota of 60% of foreign visitors, 114 nations were represented at the last event, which also represents a new milestone for the organization. Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC), the event on smart cities and smart urban solutions organized by Fira de Barcelona from 14 to 16 November, has consolidated its role as a leader after bringing together 700 cities from around the world at its latest event.
