More than 55,000 professionals visit Fima Ganadera 2009

The 75,000 meters of exhibition, distributed between halls 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 of Feria de Zaragoza, brought together major companies connected with the international livestock sector, which exhibited the innovations that make the future of this sector. Thus, with a total of 810 exhibitors from 24 countries, the Hall has been protagonist of a great number of visitors and business contacts.
The four exhibition days were marked by the large influx of visitors, general tone in Fima Ganadera 2009. Within the framework of this Hall, professionals were able to discover, first-hand, the main innovations and products that mark today and tomorrow of the international agricultural sector.
The event was opened by the President of the Government of Aragon, Marcelino Iglesias, with the Councillor of agriculture, Gonzalo Arguilé, and the President of Feria de Zaragoza, Manuel Teruel.
The sector, to debate
Food security, food and grain prices, the quality of the production, sanitary requirements and factors to deal with the crisis were the themes discussed in Fima Ganadera 2009. Thus, the Congress Centre and the different rooms are enabled in the pavilions were the venue for the debate and the reflection of the whole sector, involving 56 groups linked to the different subsectors of production meetings that have been held in fair of Zaragozaassemblies or technical seminars.
Here meetings as the starring Asoprovac (Spanish Association of producers of beef meat), in which experts in the field noted that 2009 is going to be a "critical" year for the market and in particular for beef. Among the objectives for this year, they stressed the importance of "trying to work, anticipate the problem and try to find the best solution".
To deal with the future of animal husbandry of beef have suggested several lines of action agreed with all producers, such as increasing the presence of agents of the sector and improve all aspects relating to animal feed. Also, issues linked to climate change or the future of the CAP are two of the issues that most concern currently associations.
The Embassy of Netherlands in Madrid and the professional organization of livestock, meat and eggs (PVE) analysed the problem of swine castration, which, according to several speakers, the experience must be "delete", since that has been shown that there are other mechanisms that help in influencing the smell of the meatproduction, food and accommodation for animals.
The fair was also the stage to present the V World Congress of the ham, which will take place in Aracena (Huelva) from 6 to 8 May. The presentation ceremony was attended with a succulent tasting of ham, as well as a demonstration of how to properly cut a thigh to get the maximum benefit.
Trade missions
Two days dedicated to the meetings of trade missions were held in the framework of Fima Ganadera. More than 140 companies importing developed a comprehensive programme of interviews and meetings between the Spanish exhibitors and international delegations.
The information point, located in Hall 6, featured a large representation of professionals from 17 countries (Algeria, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Peru, Portugal, Dominican Republic, Romania, Russia, Tunisia and Venezuela) seeking to open new markets and business contacts to the Spanish production.
