Valtra And the Ministry of Agriculture of Sweden aúnan efforts in the investigation of the use of biogás in tractors

Valtra and the Ministry of Agriculture of Sweden have presented a project of conjoint investigation designated 'Meka'. The aim of the project is to develop the use of biogás in tractors and other machines. The data of the investigation also can use like a base for the development of the legislation that allow the use of biogás in vehicles of road. The aim of the government of Sweden is that all the vehicles are promoted by renewable energies before the year 2030. “We are loved with the presentation of the project of investigation 'Meka'. We want to find technical solutions that allow that the tractor can use gas methane that also can produce in the agricultural exploitations. This will be beneficial so much for the agriculturalists as for the climate”, affirms Eskil Erlandsson, minister of Agriculture of Sweden.

“Valtra Has put to disposal for the project 'Meka' two tractors promoted by biogás. The tractors are mainly used by his owners, but his results, broadcasts and possibilities of use also measure in terms of utilisation on a long-term basis”, explains Jari Rautjärvi, director manager of Valtra. Valtra Will initiate the production in series in a small way of tractors of biogás this year.

'Meka' Is the abbreviation of 'Metandiesel Efter Konvertering av Arbetsmaleatherer' (postconversión of machines for methane/diesel). The Ministry of Agriculture of Sweden has allocated 8 million Swedish crowns for the project of investigation in the period 2012-2014.
