The sector cárnico demands efficiency in the operation of the chain of value of the pork

According to the data published by the Departament of Agriculture of the Government of Catalonia, the raw materials that use for the animal feeding, like the soya or the corn, have suffered lately some very significant increases, having arrived to situate the price of the think of fatten in the 322 euros/t, what means that this product has registered from principles of year an increase of 34,7%. The animal feeding supposes between the 55 and 60% of the cost of production of the fatten of the pig. That is to say, one of the factors of cost of production of the pork has increased practically 35%, whereas the rest of factors that suppose the another half of this cost has not followed the same behaviour and even some especially significant have diminished during this year.
In sight of this situation and in front of the refusal of the big distribution to move the prices of the products to the consumers and, in particular the cárnicos, the general secretary of FECIC, Josep Collado, has manifested: “It Is necessary to urge to the Generalitat so that by means of the Code of Best practices, set up by the Departament of Agriculture, guarantee the translación of the costs along the chain of pork, to avoid like this the dominant position of the big distribution in this matter”. This code created with the aim to improve the relations between the different types of operators in all the chain of value by means of the establishment of a frame of contractual reference and “that's why now it can show his value or his total ineficacia like tool of sectorial utility”, added Collado.
Like this has done it know in a writing headed to members of the European Parliament, of agricultural organisations and of representatives of the distribution, where the CLITRAVI has reported this situation, that makes impossible the translación of the increases of the costs. Also it reports this situation the report Consumers International, that in his conclusions evidence the dominant position of the distribution in relation to the manufacturers, but also in front of the consumers, and of the negative effects that supposes on the two communities this abusive situation.
Is precisely in this line that the Council of Ministers of the past Friday approved the preliminary draft of law of measures to improve the operation of the alimentary chain.
