The Galician municipality of Xermade wins the II Prize Eolo to the rural integration of the wind

The region has 2.100 inhabitants and 82 MW wind, delivered in three parks. 20% of the total population of the region has an employment tied direct or indirectly to the wind. 20% of the income of the City council proceed of the wind and have reinvertido in the development of performances of community interest that have improved the quality of life of the neighbours. The helps to the natality to boost the permanence in the municipality, the improvement of the social provision, the rehabilitation of buildings, the works of urban conditioning with rational performances, the social houses and the investments related with the energetic sustainability are only some examples.
The prize consists in the recording of a video that will reflect the profits that the wind has generated in the municipality of Xermade. This video will première in the Wind Convention that AEE celebrates in Madrid the next 12 and 13 June. Besides, Xermade will be the centre of the activities of the World-wide Day of the Wind, the next 15 June.
The jury was composed by four members: Luis Jiménez Smith, director of the Observatory of the Sustainability, Manuel Senra, director of the magazine Eolus, Luis Polo, general director of AEE, and Sonia Franco, director of Communication.
