Iberdrola gets environmental certification for 40 wind farms
These certificates acknowledge that the company has put in place an effective system of environmental management and, accordingly, that it is committed to the preservation of the environment. The Auditors have visited the facilities to assess the actions carried out by the company and verify the degree of implementation, in order to grant the certificate.
Iberdrola aims to expand the Aenor certification this year to more than 30 new wind farms, with a joint capacity of 855 MW. The month of April, the company already received global certificates of quality and environment as a recognition by all those obtained to date.
According to the company, these certificates constitute "further evidence" of its commitment to quality and respect for the environment as key areas of its strategic plan. Currently, the electric account with more than 25 certificates of quality, environment and risk prevention in different areas and businesses.
So, has 15 certificate from Aenor ISO 14001: 1996 environmental management including all thermal production plants, hydraulic plants of the basin of the River Sil, the nuclear power plant of Cofrentes, operation and maintenance of the combined cycle of Castellón, the management of hazardous waste from distribution in three centres of temporary storage and the corporate building in Bilbao.
After the wind farms, Iberdrola has in project the certification for this year of the combined cycle of Castejón (Navarra), all local multi-purpose units of distribution, the corporate building in Madrid, the school of San Agustín de Guadalix (Madrid) and the building of the company in Larraskitu (Bilbao), among other facilities. The company expects to have certified all their production at the end of this year.
New capabilities
The incorporation of this new capacity installed in the renewable Park of the company is part of its aim of closing this year with an estimated operational power of more than 3,100 MW, of which 2,800 MW correspond to wind farms and 300 MW to minihidráulicas.
Iberdrola renewable Park is present in 12 regions, Castile - La Mancha, Spain, Galicia, Castile and León, La Rioja, Aragon, Valencia, Basque country, Navarra, Murcia, Cantabria, Extremadura and Madrid).
The bet of Iberdrola for clean energy is part of the commitment of the company with the renewal of the Spanish generation Park, driven by the National Plan of allocation (NIP) of emissions, prepared by the Government to comply with the Kyoto Protocol.
