Good response from the participants of the metallurgical industry and equipment

A total of 20.173 people visited the Summit Industrial and technology 2003, international fair of machinery and technologies for the production, which took place from the 24th to the 27th of September in the facilities of the Bilbao international fair. On this set, the number of professional - 17.533 in total recorded an increase of 2% compared to the previous edition, data that completed a stock of very positive event.

The participation of foreign visitors grew 50 percent, thanks to the presence of 1,266 professionals from 48 countries, between those who emphasized, by number, France, Portugal, Italy, Venezuela, Germany and United States. The presence of 32 delegations from Europe, Africa, Asia and America contributed significantly to this result.

At the national level, the Summit 2003 experienced a positive evolution of visitors in all the geographical origins of industrial character. The highest participation levels corresponded to the autonomous community Basque, Catalonia, Navarre, Castile and León, Madrid and Cantabria.

Analysis of the composition of the Group showed a greater professionalization of the visitors, whose profile revealed the presence of entrepreneurs, managers and department heads, mainly. The sectors of greatest interest to this group were those of mechanization and transformation, hydraulic and pneumatic maintenance, automation, robotics and components, electronics, iron and steel, moulds, matrices and dies, and foundries, as well as the fair as a whole.

In general, participation data confirmed that the number of visitors attending the 2003 Summit responded to the increase in the number of exhibitors, it reached a total of 1,208 signatures - 548 of them foreign - and a 10 percent increase in the number of direct participation of enterprises.

The Summit has been a meeting point for professionals, a forum for discussion at the technical conferences and a showcase of the new features of the sector. In addition a programme of international cooperation has been promoted

In the technical conferences, whose program was composed of the meetings of Aem, Spanish Association of maintenance, Gaia, Association cluster of telecommunications, Ateg, Association technique of electroplating, Aenor, Asociación Española de Normalización y Certificación, Cesol, Spanish Association of welding and Union technologies, and the own Bilbao international fair, there were speakers important appointment, technicians and experts from all the sectors involved. The presentation of the "eighth catalogue of outsourcing of the Basque country, 2003-2005", prepared by the Chambers of Commerce Basque, as well as the study on "industrial subcontracting and its impact on employment and entrepreneurship", of the Superior Council of ChambersIt was another of the activities carried out on the occasion of the event.

Finally, the first edition of the "East Tour Bilbao 2003", initiative aimed at suppliers and manufacturers of automotive industry, attracted the presence of a set of 30 foreign companies interested in promoting international cooperation through this program.
