A publication of AENOR includes the Matarromera group among the 10 cases of success in the use of sustainable technologies

The history of group winemaker vallisoletano chaired by Carlos Moro has not gone unnoticed to the Asociación Española de Normalización y Certificación (aenor). On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, this Agency has released a publication with ten cases of successful implementation of technology in Spanish companies. The Edition, whose official presentation took place yesterday in the Ministry of industry, tourism and trade, reveals how these companies have become leading edge on a global scale. Their findings reveal that the application of these technologies has led these companies to become more sustainable, profitable and generating quality of life for citizens.

In the commemorative publication of its 25 years, AENOR has recognized the contribution of technology to improve the competitiveness of the productive fabric. 10 Success stories have been written by early expert of Spanish companies representing numerous sectors and sizes, ranging from wine to the civil works, through transport, household appliances, wind energy, telecommunications, aeronautics, science and nanotechnology industry. In the case of the Matarromera group, and an article by its President Carlos Moro, it has shared limelight with companies such as Jema, Metro de Madrid, Telefónica, Fagor, Eads-Casa, SpanCold and Ausigeti, Tecnalia, ITP and Gamesa.

Matarromera group is the first wine group Spanish in the calculation of the carbon footprint in their products. During the past year 2010, AENOR certified Matarromera group balance of CO₂ of three of its wines at all stages: from the vineyard to the production and manufacture, transport, distribution, consumption and its own recycling process. This certificate found their Verdejo Emina emits 829 grams of CO₂ into the atmosphere. This figure, known as 'carbon footprint', the Castilian and Leonese group became the first Spanish company in this calculation in Emina Verdejo (D.O. Rueda), Emina 12 months (D.O. Ribera del Duero) and Matarromera Crianza (D.O. Ribera del Duero).

On the other hand, Matarromera Group embodies in its centre CIVE (Emina wine interpretation centre), the first comprehensive project of sustainable development of the wine industry in Spain. Emina used all types of renewable energies such as biomass, solar thermal or photovoltaic allowing you to save energy and developing a sustainable and environmentally friendly management environment. This policy extended to all production centers of the company, allows savings of emission of 400 tonnes of CO₂ into the atmosphere.
