Cement consumption falls 12% in the last twelve months

The consumption of cement in the last year (March 2010 to February 2011) has suffered a decline of more than 3.3 million tonnes, representing a fall of 11.95%, according to data from the Department of economic studies of Oficemen. Although the consumption of cement in February grazed the 1.8 million tonnes (2.73% more than in February 2010), to the entity, this figure "is not a symptom of improvement" of this economic indicator, because it is influenced by weather conditions in the first months of the year. Oficemen explained that if it descontase the adverse climate effect that we had at the beginning of last year, in the first two months of 2011 cement consumption would be throwing close to 10% negative rates.
On the other hand, remains the path to the rise in exports which increase 40,51% in the last 12 months and the decline in imports with a 34,13% fall in the same period.
