The cement sector closed 2010 with a fall in consumption of 15 %

Spanish the cement market has closed the financial year 2010 with a total of 24.5 million tonnes, which is 15% less for 2009, which ended with a figure of 28.9 million tonnes, according to data from the Group of manufacturers of cement Spain (Oficemen).
On the other hand, cement production decreased almost 12% to 26 million tons. Production of clinker, necessary intermediate product for the manufacture of cement, recorded a decrease of 3%, with 21 million tonnes produced in 2010.
Approximately 3.8 million tonnes, were exported which led to a growth of 33%, while imports of cement were almost 2 million tons, falling by 31% compared to 2009.
