Host presents the study 'Assessment of the benefits associated with the development of cogeneration in Spain'

Host, Spanish Association of cogeneration, presented on November 12 the study made by The Boston Consulting Group to assess and quantify the benefits of cogeneration contributes to the country and the additional advantages that would result in the installation of new cogeneration for Spain. Both views - historical and future projection - complement each other and explain the significance of establishing the conditions for progress in the development of cogeneration, as provided for in the 2010-2020 Paner.
Juan Vila, President of host, highlighted the relevance of the study and said that "in the current context, cogeneration is an opportunity and a key tool to be considered in the field of entrepreneurial success and energy policies, because it carries important economic advantages for the country and provides an energy cheap industries"", which means bring competitiveness, some priority in the context of momentum of the industrial activity".
The BCG study quantifies the benefits of cogeneration contributes to the country, as part of the response to the great national challenges, concluding that it is a key instrument for energy efficiency and the reduction of GHG emissions, with significant economic savings (reduces 2% energy imports in Spain and 3.2 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions); that is essential for the competitiveness and the maintenance of the industrial employment (more than 1.4 million jobs and 40% of industrial GDP, ex-construcción); serving as a driving force of investment, innovation, economic development and job creation (the development of combined heat and power of the Paner will allow an accumulated more than 10 billion euros investment and will create 25,000 jobs in the sector, distributed by all Spain); and that it is essential for the security of supply and the reduction of energy dependence (as supply source close to the point of consumption and generating predictable and guaranteed capacity).
