Executive Secretary of the Spanish Centre of plastic
Joan Crag Garriga is the executive secretary of the Spanish Centre of plastics (CEP). His 22 years in this charge have provided him a wide knowledge of the sector of the plastics, as well as a big experience in the steering and organisation of formative and informative activities. It is 52 years old; it has realised studies of technical engineering and is diplomado in marketing and in steering and gestión of business entities.
From his foundation in the year 1953, has been a constant worry of the Spanish Centre of plastics the facilitate, to our sector and to the industry in general, a technical information constant on the new materials, processes and applications.
This restlessness reflected in an open and permanent service of query, that at present evacuates an average of 17.000 annual queries (a good part from the foreigner) and the organisation of technical days, that served of frame to the exchange of knowledges and interests between the different estamentos that take part in concrete sectors of application (automotive sector, agriculture, electrotechnics, electromechanical and appliances, packs and packaging, construction, material reinforced, etc).
These technical days, that initiated in 1975, with the devoted to plastics reinforced, had from the first moment a big acceptance, as it shows by the usual half assistance of 250 participants in the 39 already celebrated days and that in the reports presented, an average of 25 by day, in addition to the ones of the technicians of the industry already results usual the participation of the administration, technology centres or of investigation and the university. In any of the subjects, as it is the case of the plastics reinforced, has reached the 12 edition and an international character. For 1995 the program of activities of the CEP includes two technical days: Container and packaging in plastic materials (Barcelona, 6 and 7 June) in his 5 edition, and the 4 edition of plastic in the construction (November).
Deserves special attention, inside the informative tasks and in front of the shortage of works in Spanish, the publication of basic technical books inside the payment Monographic Subjects of the CEP, having published already the two first titles: Initiation to the plastics and Colouring of plastics and prepares the third: Injection of plastics. Other periodic publications are the study of the sector of the plastics that, from 1979, presents a wide statistical information annual on productions, consumptions and markets, and the bulletin CEP-Inform that publishes news of general interest for the sector.
Another traditional restlessness in the CEP has been the learning, that occupies a place stood out between our activities, since from 1970 and of uninterruptible form give general courses and monographs, allocated to the continuous learning of the personnel of our companies associated and of the sector in general. This activity develops usually in our social headquarters although also, increasingly, effects in the companies that request this service. This activity, developed along these 25 years, remains reflected in the more than 250 courses and seminars, with a global assistance of some 5.000 participants, by what believe to have contributed to our sector a continuous learning to his personnel that to date does not give inside the ruled education.
By his importance resaltamos especially the active participation of the CEP in the creation of the degree of technical engineer skilled mechanic in plastics that at present is giving in the Escola Universitària d'Enginyeria Tècnica Industrial of Terrassa, and also the active participation in the manufacturing of the new titles of professional learning (Logse) of the speciality of plastics, jointly with the ministry of education and science and later with the Departament d'Ensenyament of the Generalitat of Catalonia in his autonomic adaptation. Another put achieved to improve the learning and the knowledge of the plastic materials and his best application is the creation, beside the other entities of the sector of the plastics, autonomic and local administration and the Polytechnical University, of the Centre Català of the Plàstic (CCP), situaBy all the pointed, consider that the CEP has fulfilled from his starts with one of his aims prioritarios, that is the information and the learning, and therefore to that the plastic materials are increasingly known and better applied by his sectors utilizadores.
The CEP is a technical entity-non-profit professional, that groups to 570 transformative companies of plastics, manufacturers and importing of raw materials and auxiliary products, manufacturers and importing of machinery and equipment, constructors of moulds, companies utilizadoras of plastic materials and to professionals of the sector. It is member of the Spanish Foundation of the plastics for the Protection of the Environingingment and of Aenor, as well as of the Gprmc (Groupement Européen give Plastiques Renforcés/Matériaux Composites).
