Plastic until the yellow container bags

Weighing only 6 grams, a plastic bag can contain up to 5 kg of weight. But what happens when we do not serve? What is its impact on the environment? are plastic bags recyclable? Can you deposit in the yellow container? What is the symbol of the "green dot" carrying some bags? These were some of the questions that were raised and discussed on the occasion of the seminar, organized by Cicloplast, on "Bags of plastics and the environment", that is has been held on April 11 in Zaragoza, in the C.P.S. of industrial engineers.

Plastic bags are recyclable. A total of plastics which are recycled from our household waste, 75% corresponds to the polyethylene which is the type of plastic used in the manufacture of bags.

"Spain has complied with the objectives of recycling of plastics from Spanish and European regulations." In addition, in less time than other countries in our environment we have similar levels of recycling of plastic containers which, for example, France or Belgium. And plastic bags is one of the containers that are recycling "-said the President of Cicloplast, Angel Luis Bautista."

In 1998, major manufacturers of plastic bags in supermarkets and Spain, signed a voluntary agreement (promoted by Ecoembes) through which a financial contribution (so-called "green dot") to cover the cost of the recycling of these bags is guaranteed, at the end of its useful life.

Subsequently, more than 13,000 small shops have joined, also, the voluntary agreement through their representative associations.
On the other hand, the awareness of companies is very clear. "The AENOR environmental brand is widespread in our sector" - confirms the SPMetal Biel factory Director.

Plastic bags help us to recycle. When we carry helmets to the Green igloo or cartons to the blue container, plastic bag helps us to carry it all.
