The production of bricks and tiles is increased a 3.43% during the first half of 2007

The data of the Spanish Association of manufacturers of brick and tile clay cooked (Hispalyt) on the activity of the Spanish structural ceramics industry reflect an increase of 3.43 percent of production during the first six months of this yearin relation to the same period of 2006. In particular, the total production for the first half of 2006 has placed 15,82 million tonnes. The annual production, from July 2006 to June 2007, has been 30,45 billion tonnes. For its part, the ceramic materials prices have risen a 2.43 per cent, moderating its rise after which occurred last year, from 7 per cent, largely motivated by the cost of the energy bill. Elena Santiago, Secretary general of Hispalyt, States that "the pace of growth, although it has slowed over the past year, shows that demand for ceramic materials is solid in the residential market Spanish".

The pace of growth of the production shows signs of moderation from the figures of the first half of 2006 - in which growth was 7.5 per cent-. For Hispalyt, this figure is very positive since it has been in a situation like the present, especially the residential construction sector as a whole point towards a certain desacceleración.

The first half of 2007 has been very important for structural ceramics industry to strengthen its commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. This strategy will allow the industry to improve their competitiveness in a scenario as in coming years, with a set of rules more demanding about the quality of housing, with a market in which the pace of construction of new residential developments will be probably diminished. The quality and sustainability of Hispalyt strategy has resulted in the first half in a number of notable events.

Among them include the presentation of Silensis, a new construction system of high acoustic performance that achieves results of acoustic insulation in situ between 50 and 55 dB above the demands of the CTE.
