Hispalyt announces the 9th 2005 brick architectural Award / 2007

Hispalyt, the Spanish Association of Manufacturers of Bricks and Knit, has summoned the ninth edition of the Prize of architecture of Brick 2005/2007. The works presented will have to use of significant form the expensive brick sight of traditional format, manufactured in Spain, and at least used in the greater part of the paramentos external of the work. To the contest can concurrir architects and constructors of Spanish or foreign nationality. The date of ending of the projects has to be comprised between June of 2005 and June of 2007. The deadline for the presentation of the works and his documentation will be the day 31 October 2007 to the 19:00 hours. It will concede a prize of 12.000 to the author or authors of the winning work, and the jury will be able to award accésits (to a maximum of three works) with an endowment of 4.000 .

The jury which will fail the prize is composed of professionals of recognized prestige such as Carlos Hernández Pezzi, President of the Consejo Superior de schools architects Spain; José Ignacio Linazasoro, winner of the 8th brick architectural award and director of the Chair Hispalyt "Ceramics to build"; Francisco Mangado, architect; José Antonio Martínez Lapeña, architect; José María March, Co-Director of the plate tectonics magazine; Néstor Montenegro, Co-Director of the magazine Arquitectos; José Felix Ortiz, President of the section of brick face view of Hispalyt; Enrique Sanz, director of the magazine Conarquitectura; and Elena Santiago, Secretary general of Hispalyt.

The project of architectural and urban intervention in the ruins of the Piarist schools of the Lavapiés neighborhood of Madrid, of the architect José Ignacio Linazasoro, was the winner of the eighth edition of the brick Architecture Prize. Currently, Linazasoro is also the director of the Chair Hispalyt "Ceramics to build". The project covered different scales, from the urban to the design of interior spaces. In the speech, different construction systems that, beyond the particular solutions, finally provide a unitary character intervention could be observed. The work of Linazasoro is a dialogue between the elements of modern architecture and the great issues of the past, through appointments and various architectural allusions.

Hispalyt organizes two awards of architecture on a biennial basis: the brick Architecture Prize that now calls and the award for architecture with Termoarcilla, with the aim to present emblematic works and structural ceramic products. The Association groups more than 300 companies Spanish which employ 12,500 people, with a turnover in 2006 of € 1,475 million, being the industry with greater productive capacity of Europe in its sector.
