AENOR laboratory, official driver of exports of meat to Russia

The Ministry of health, social services and equality has included Aenor laboratory in the list of official laboratories designated to carry out official Control analysis for the export of food products of animal origin to the Customs Union (Russia, Bieolorrusia and Kazakhstan). This new recognition will allow food analysis of Aenor Center control managing officers of the autonomous communities inspection services for companies who want to export their goods to the Customs Union. Such Customs Union legislation sets minimum requirements in terms of hygiene and sanitation of meat and meat products that must meet all the Spanish companies that exported its products to these countries. In 2012, the Spanish companies of the meat sector exported to Russia 136.765 tons of meat and processed products, amounting to 279,85 million euros. The Russian market is the first destination outside the EU for the Spanish meat industries, with 8.6% of the total volume exported abroad.
In particular, the laboratory will carry out microbiological controls of contaminants of meat products, fishery and dairy to rule out the presence in them of pathogens such as salmonella, bacteria, heavy metals or pesticides, among others. In the case of meat products, official controls include fresh and frozen all species of supply, as well as products and meat by-products. For dairy products, controls will be carried out in the milk, cream, cheese and whey. In relation to fisheries products, the analysis include the fresh and frozen fish, preserves and semi-preserved fish, smoked, salted, dried fish, molluscs and Bivalves.
