The Unit of Educational Laboratories of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the UB obtains the Stamp of Commitment to the European Excellence 200+

The Unit of Educational Laboratories (ULD) of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Barcelona has obtained the Stamp of Commitment to the European Excellence 200+ in recognition to his system of gestión, a sign awarded by the Club Excellence in Gestión (CEG), after having surpassed successfully an exhaustive external evaluation by part of the Spanish Association of Normalisation and Certification (AENOR).

The act of delivery of this recognition was chaired by the vice-chancellor of Academic Politics and Quality, gaspar Rosselló; the director of the Agency of Politics and of Quality, Dr. Ernest Pons; the dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Joan Esteva of Sagrera; the director of AENOR in Catalonia, Mrs. Eva Subirà, and the vice-president of the Club Excellence in Gestión, Pere Miralles.

The act of delivery of this recognition took place the Tuesday, 7 May, to the 12.30 h, in the Classroom Magna of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the UB, in an act chaired by the vice-chancellor of Academic Politics and Quality, gaspar Rosselló; the director of the Agency of Politics and of Quality, Ernest Pons; the dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Joan Esteva of Sagrera; the director of AENOR in Catalonia, Eva Subirà, and the vice-president of the Club Excellence in Gestión, Pere Miralles.

After ten years of activity of the ULD of the Faculty of Pharmacy, that is ascribed to the campus of international excellence BKC, the system of gestión of the quality implanted in the Unit has subjected to a process of review and improvement. With the constant advice of the Agency of Politics and of Quality of the UB, initiated the evaluation of the system of gestión by means of the European Model of excellence (model EFQM), process that has culminated with the obtaining of the quoted recognition.

During the act, Miralles has done delivery of the stamp of excellence, moment that has taken advantage of to head to the assistants and comment that “one of the most important activities of the Club is to recognise to those organisations that, like the Service of the Official Bulletin of the Province of Barcelona and of other Official Publications, and the same University of Barcelona, are working to improve his system of gestión, and that in his daily work bet for reaching the maximum level of excellence”. Besides it has added that “at present there are 481 stamps of valid excellence, what shows the firm commitment of the Spanish organisations by the excellence”.

Rosselló, has affirmed that “the Stamp of Commitment to the European Excellence 200+ obtained by the ULD, and recognised internationally, supposes an explicit support to the commitment by the culture of the quality and the continuous improvement. The University of Barcelona, like institution, bet by the excellence in all the field of his activity, already was in relation with the teaching and with the investigation, or with the internal and external services that loans to the university community and to the group of the society”.

For Subirà, “the obtaining of the Stamp by part of the ULD of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Barcelona supposes the recognition to the effort llevar by the Unit to improve the service that offers to the university community, as well as to the materialisation of the politics of improvement of the educational quality promoted by the organs of government of this Faculty”.

The ULD was created to answer to the proposal of improvement of the evaluation of the degree of Pharmacy in the UB. The mission of the ULD is to improve the transversal competitions of the students and incorporate them to the system of gestión of the quality implanted in the educational laboratories of the Faculty. In this frame, the students realise the practices in a system centralised in which it has created some similar surroundings to the that will find in the professional world. The aim is to provide to the students a complementary transversal learning that hardly would arrive them through the contents of the asignaturas of the degree. This new system of gestión and of practical learning received the external recognition with the special quotation in the national Plan of evaluation of the quality in the universities in the year 2000, and the distinction Jaume Vicens Live to the university educational quality in the announcement of 2006.
