Aenor will help to the manufacturers of the construction to fulfil with the new environingingmental requirements

In a recent day, María Consuelo Jiménez, boss of Area of Quality of the Edificación of the Ministry responsible for public works, supported the value of the DAP in relation to his registration in the General Register of the CTE: “we Invite to all those that llevar an analysis of the cycle of life of his products that use an Environingingmental Statement of Product and promote the registration of these statements in the Register, that recognises efforts, promotes the sustainability and generates transparency in the market”, signalled.
Likewise, Luis Alonso, boss of Service of the General Sub-directorate of Quality and Industrial hygiene of the Ministry of Industry, Power and Tourism, advanced the next relation between the DAP and the European Regulation: there will be some characteristics of environingingmental character that “the manufacturers go to have to declare and that go to be able to be used by the DAP and vice versa”. “Obviously —it continued— the Regulation goes to influence on the DAP and these on the Regulation”. In this sense, fits to remember that the new European Regulation includes a new basic requirement on use of natural resources, collecting to the DAP like tools for the evaluation of the sustainable use of the resources and the environingingmental impact of the works of construction.
The Environingingmental Statements of Product (DAP or EPD by his acronyms in English) are documents that offer, of transparent and verifiable form by third independent, relative information to the environingingmental behaviour of the products in base to his cycle of life. This program answers to the increasing awareness with regard to the environingingmental impact of any product, what has carried to develop methodologies for his quantification and the independent verification of data.
‘Aenor GlobalEPD' —that no only is headed to the construction, but to all the sectors of economic activity and products— is a tool that favours the competitiveness of the products in the Spanish and international market, promoting the exports. This program, of international character –in which the entity works from two years ago— engloba two functions: on the one hand, the development of the Rules of Category of Product (RCP), that establish the particular conditions that have to fulfil the DAP in each product and, by another, the verification of said statements, according to the requirements established in said rules of category. At present, Aenor is working in the development of the rules, for, later, proceed to the development of the first verifications DAP.
During the day, presented the works of normalisation in the field of the sustainable construction, so much to national level like European by part of the main experts that lead the works. The technical norms contain the best practices and the consensus of the market with regard to the best form to tackle important processes for the organisations, in which they play his competitiveness. Like this, the European Committee of Normalisation (CEN) has developed recently a specific norm to establish the basic rules of categories of products that allow to elaborate the DAP in materials and products of construction in edificación and civil work. Said norm has been adopted to the catalogue of Spanish norms by part of Aenor as it JOINS-IN 15804:2012.
