Barcelona, world-wide capital of the normalisation of plastics

Barcelona will receive, from today, Monday 17 September and until the next 21, the 61ª meeting of the international technical committee attendant of the development of technical norms in the sector of plastics in the breast of the International Organisation of Normalisation (the ISO/TC 61). In the evento will participate near of 220 international experts of a veintena of countries, that will debate on the future technical norms in which the sector plays his competitiveness to global level, to the time that will tackle the current tendencies of the sector in matter of bioplásticos and energetic efficiency.

In general, the norms indicate how has to be a product or work a service so that it was safe and answer to what the consumer expects of him, constituting a guarantee of hygiene. In his manufacturing, participate expert of all the parts interested and approve by consensus. The norms are the source worldwide more accepted to find solutions to the distinct challenges of the companies, and are the language that speak the international markets: thanks to that established a norm with the requirements that had to fulfil the same, today 90% of the international transport of commodities travels inside containers. The norms have economic profits: in Spain and Germany suppose 1% of the Gross Inner Product (GDP).

At present, the international committee of plastics, one of the biggest inside ISO, has put the focus in the manufacturing of technical norms for the bioplásticos, integrating the new technologies, the innovation and the environingingmental appearances with the aim to improve his competitiveness to global level. To the term of the meeting of Barcelona, will fix the start of works in new norms, as well as the approval of some already existent. The Committee ISO/TC 61 at present has in force 626 norms, that go from those that establish the mechanical properties of the products, until the resistance to the fire, going through the physical properties-chemical, etc. The Spanish Association of Normalisation and Certification (AENOR) is the legally responsible entity of the development of the technical norms in Spain and exerts from 20 years ago the secretary of the subcomité 2 Mechanical Properties.

The evento will set up the Monday with two open sessions on Biopláticos and Energetic Efficiency, as well as a welcome by part of the President of the ISO/TC 61 plastics, Hubert Simon and the general director of AENOR, Avelino Brito. The international appointment has been organised by AENOR, with the sponsorship of plasticsEurope and the Centre of Essays, Innovation and Services (CEIS), this last society in which it participates AENOR mostly; also it collaborates the Technical Committee of Certification of plastics CTC 001.

At present, the catalogue of AENOR has more than 1.100 technical norms on plastics and products realised with this material that constitute an important base for the development of any product that have plastic materials. AENOR translates the international norms to the Spanish, what facilitates the access to these documents to a market of 500 million people all over the world. These norms allow to manufacture products safer, light, comfortable and versatile, with all the economic and environingingmental advantages that this contributes. Of the development of these documents benefit all the users and consumers.
