Portico notarised with barriers laser: to measure the dimensions of vehicles

Picture of Portico notarised with barriers laser
The portico for measure of dimensions measures the width, the high and the long of the vehicle, and designs according to the needs of the user. It uses sensors laser (655 nm, red visible) in complete barrier of 20 m of rank, with the exit of the receptor in setting PNP.

The width measures in base to barriers vertical laser (13 to each side in the figure) with a separation of 10 cm, that could be of 5 cm if like this it requests it the user. The distribution of the blocks of sensors does with a view to optimise his number not installing sensors that do not go to be used, considering the maximum width of the vehicle to measure and the width of the lane.

The height measures also in base to barriers complete horizontal laser. The number of sensors to use depend of the rank of measure in height that need . Besides they use 4 horizontal barriers additional: 2 to level of wheel (one in the portico and another between the small columns situated 1 m after the portico), another to level of headlights and another to 2.0 m of height, to separate trucks and light vehicles of trucks. The long determines calculating by a part the speed of each group of axles with help of the barrier laser between the small columns and on the other hand calculating the time that takes in happening the vehicle under the portico with help of part of the horizontal and vertical barriers situated in the same.

To calculate in real time the time that passes since a short wheel the barrier situated in the portico to 20 cm of height until short the another barrier, also to 20 cm of height, situated 1.0 m after the portico on the small columns of 40 cm of high, uses a circuit in base to PIC16F84To. A PIC is a microcontroller, of 8-bit in technology Flash/Eeprom. The portico carries attached in the right crossbar a small cabinet that contains a computer “Bobcat”, based in microprocessor 486/586, with 64 MB in RAM, hard disk of 16 MB, card of compatible video SVGA and modulate for 48 entrances I/Or. This computer is programmable in Windows 2000 or XP, as well as in languages of but low level, like the C.
