The AEC advanced like this in a polish to the announced now by the minister of the Interior, Jorge Fernández Díaz. After ensuring that the Government goes to reduce the speed in the conventional roads of 100 to 90 kilometres by hour, Fernández Díaz advanced a reform of the General Regulation of Circulation, for before 2013, in which it will establish the variable speed in motorways and autovías in function of criteria such as the climatology, the degree of lighting of the road, the state of the firm or the density of the traffic.

Up to now, the signaling of the speed in our country has gone through the establishment of some fixed generic limits (associated mainly to the type of road: autovía, national, conventional, etc.), and other specific (associated to curves, intersections, etc.) fixed by means of fixed vertical signaling. However, these limits no always are coherent with the reality of the roads.

In this sense, the report of the AEC pleads for to associate the speed to the real registers of siniestralidad. That is to say, the stretches with a high accidentalidad would see ‘penalised' with a generic speed reduced in function of the type of road. Also the adverse meteorological conditions or the scarce luminosidad would carry to establish additional reductions.

In all the cases, according to the report, the limits proposed will have to be reviewed with a no upper periodicity to two years, so that some stretches can experience descents or increases in function that they reduce or no the accidents.

With all this pretends achieve, on the one hand, that the drivers familiarise with a type of information cambiante, and by another, recover the credibility of the signaling.
