Atlas Copco has initiated recently the construction of a new plant of manufacture of compressors in Wuxi, China, to attend the increasing demand of compressors of the Chinese market and other Asian markets.The investment, of roughly 150 MSEK, includes the construction of a new plant of setting of compressors, a laboratory of proofs and a centre of investigation and development. The new factory and the improvement of the existent installations will allow to increase the production of compressors transportables, industrial compressors and compressors of air exentos of oil as well as of elements of compression.
“This investment will allow us satisfy better the needs of our local customers and support like this the profitable growth of the group in the Asian market”, affirms Stephan Kuhn, president of the area of Technical business in Energy Compressed of Atlas Copco. “Also we will be able to centre our efforts of innovation in the local development of products energetically efficient that fulfil the future requirements more strict of China in matter of energetic efficiency”.
Situated to some 10 kilometres of the current plant of Atlas Copco in Wuxi, in the Chinese province of Jiangsu, the new factory occupies a surface of terrain of 45.000 square metres. It is foreseen that the new plant was operative in July of 2012, where will develop his activities the areas of Technical business of Construction and Technical in Energy Compressed.
Atlas Copco has at present more than 5.000 employees in China, delivered in 13 plants of manufacture and more than 100 offices in all the country.
