Is expected that the European Union present its conclusions on the CAP in March
February 25, 2011
EU Agriculture Ministers have discussed this week again on the future of the future CAP, what Spain has contributed with the defence and promotion of rural markets and with unrestricted support for the diversification of activities linked to the rural communitiesin order to reduce the dependence of meat and dairy livestock.
There is this new CAP, has to young farmers as a key part to renew rural populations, so that they are attracted by better prospects for their future, the improvement of rural infrastructure and possible innovation.
Most of the twenty-seven believe that agricultural subsidies must be understood as compensation received by their community products, be they theoretically subjected to higher demands than their counterparts in third countries.
The Spanish official position has been so far, the defend the maintenance of aid and support to the disadvantaged territories, as for example the Asturian mountains. Also, the majority of the twenty-seven would be looking for a more balanced development of the territories, through the next CAP, one of the few policies of rural aid surviving.
