Building awarded 68,4 million to the works of new station Vigo-Urzáiz of the Atlantic high-speed axis

The Ministry of public works has awarded to the joint venture formed by FCC Construcción and enterprises Acciona infrastructure works of the new station of Vigo-Urzáiz, belonging to the high-speed Atlantic axis. The budget of the award is 68,4 million euros.
The project consists in the implementation of the civil works at the beach of tracks (platforms level) of the new station of Vigo-Urzáiz, which is situated in the same location as the current station, but at an altitude 15 metres loweras a result of the route taken to access to the new railway line from the Atlantic axis Vigo. This is done through a tunnel of 8 kilometers in length that is digging with two tunnelling machines from Redondela and in its last few sections through the city of Vigo beneath the surface.
The execution of the works of the new station will require both the transfer of the services currently provided in Vigo-Urzáiz interim station of Vigo-Cuixa, which is already in an advanced stage of implementation.
The station is projected with a total of six tracks, with four platforms of 400 metres in length and 10 and 12.7 meters in width, located in such a way that all avenues are operational for passenger traffic.
Paragraph tracks are arranged symmetrically with respect to General, having studied a track with double crosses configuration to allow the simultaneous parking of nine trains.
