The Ministry of public works will boost this year construction of the section Benavente-Zamora of the Autovía Ruta de la Plata (A-66). As the Minister of public works, José Blanco, announced at a recent parliamentary hearing, the Ministry licitará before the end of the year the works of this stretch through the extraordinary Plan of infrastructures (PEI) public-private partnership.
Currently, the Ministry is speeding up the necessary paperwork to tender the construction of this infrastructure, which are already at an advanced stage. This section will thus be one of the first in all Spain that will be implemented through the PEI. The inclusion of this infrastructure among the first projects of the PEI has been motivated because it is a priority for the Ministry work, as it brings cohesion to the country and complete an important corridor.
The province of Zamora, will be one of the major beneficiaries of the PEI, that, among the first projects to be carried out, is also the connection of the high speed line railway between Zamora and Galicia.
The extraordinary Plan of infrastructure aims to revive the economy and employment through investment in transport infrastructure. The plan is a joint commitment of the Government, financial institutions and companies in the sector which will favour the creation of both short-term and long-term employment. First, for the construction of infrastructures and, subsequently, for their preservation and maintenance.
