Madrid receives a day on the future of the mining sector from a perspective of sustainability

The Commercial Office of Sweden, Business Sweden, organised the past 13 March in Madrid, in the headquarters of the Embassy of Sweden, the day ‘Sustainable Mining by Sweden: Laying the foundation for the future', centred in creating an interactive forum of debate between mining companies, organisations of the sector and public servicys, to argue which has to be the leaf of route of the mining sector in Spain. The subject has tackled from the perspective of the sustainability and of the exchange of experiences with Sweden, country with strong mining sector and organised, and also participatory to European level.

After the welcome of the ambassador of Sweden in Spain, Cecilia Julin, the day has been inaugurated by the general director of Quality and Environingingmental and Half Evaluation Natural of the Ministry of Agriculture, Feeding and Environingingment, Guillermina Yanguas Montero. During the session matinal has tackled the subject of the minería sustainable, through presentations and round tables in which they have participated representatives of institutions and companies of those areas of greater influence in the advance of the mining sector in Spain, like the general director of Industry, Power and Mines of Andalucia, María José Asensio Coto, the vice-president of Prime Matters of Confedem, Vicente Gutiérrez Peinador, the director of Technology and Innovation of Copper The Crosses, Carlos Cold Gómez, the director of Marketing of LKAB Wassara in Sweden, David Petersson and the nanager of Projects and Global Strategic Alliances of Atlas Copco, Mikael Ramström. The day has been moderated by Javier Targhetta Brushes, adviser delegated of Atlantic Copper.
The round table debated on some agreed subjects with the public previously, and the result centred in the need to value the strategy of development of raw materials of the European Union and promote the development of the industry extractiva. Besides it has resaltado the importance that the sector of the industry extractiva have a commitment with the sustainability and the importance of a mining and half legislation environingingmental coherent. Like way to the sustainability and competitiveness has done upsetting in the innovation, inside the frame of the European Innovation Partnership (EIP).
Between the concrete proposals that have gone out of the day stands out the recommendation to the industry extractiva and to the public servicys to optimise the transparency to combat the distrust of the society and the need of an active presence of companies and public servicys Spaniards in the forums and departments related with the raw materials of the European Union.
Cecilia Julin, ambassador of Sweden in Spain, referred to the day like an excellent opportunity to establish and deepen in the relations on sustainability of the mining sector between both countries.
