The audits of the AEC detects obstacles without protecting in 42% of the Spanish roads

According to new data of the audits of the Spanish Association of the Road (AEC), 42% of the roads of Spain have obstacles situated in the margins of the shod that they do not find properly protected.

Trees, sticks of lighted up, advertising fences, works of factory (disassemble, ditches, drains, scuppers, steps of pedestrians, steps of fauna, walls, pillars of the bridges, etc.), are elements that are used to to be situated to one and another side of the roads and that, to produce an exit of road by any circumstance, can result fatal for the occupants of the vehicle affected in case of collision.

According to the technical rule that governs in this regard, in these circumstances the first performance has to go through the trip, modification or elimination of the obstacle. Of not being possible, is indispensable his protection by means of the systems of containment adapted.

In 2012, the loss of the control of the vehicle and the consequent exit of the road were present in 20% of the accidents with victims registered, it 35% of the died and 25% of the injured grave.

According to the Order Circulate 28/2009, consider elements or potential situations of risk the following: Báculos of lighting, elements of sustenance of posters, porticos and banderolas, sticks SOS, screens anti noise, the roads or shod parallel, the walls, buildings, cimentaciones and elements of the superficial drainage (caskets, imposts, etc.), the accesses to bridges, tunnels and narrow steps, the structural elements of the upper steps, the ditches, disassemble them and the terraplenes. All they require, therefore, the owed protection by means of systems of containment adapted.

The first data of the study of the AEC like this reveal it that the 2013 is being a black year for the Spanish roads:

• One of each four signals of code does not guarantee a correct visibility of night or in adverse climatic conditions.

• 72% of the firm presents cracks in the filmed.

• Almost in the half of the network find obstacles without protecting, very dangerous in case of exit of the shod.

This investigation has his origin in the Campaigns of Visual Inspection of the Road Network that the AEC began to realizar in 1985 with the aim to know the state of the paving and of the equipment, as well as to determine the necessary minimum investment to reach levels of suitable service.

The work of field of the report 2013 has been developed in the months of July and August of this year by a dozen of evaluadores that have visited around 3.000 stretches, of 100 metres each one, so much in the Network of Roads of the State as in the dependent Network of the Autonomous Communities and Deputations Forales.
