Interview to Ángel Velilla, responsible of Export of the Aerial Platforms Movex
Which balance do of the last exercise in Workshops Velilla? They attained to fulfil the aims that had marked ?
Can not speak of good years with this long and intense crisis, 2012 was a very irregular year but, fortunately, thanks to going on doing the things well and to our increase of sales in the external market, have kept us according to the planned aims.
Had marked us like aims develop new models and improve the current to adapt us to markets like the English or the French. We have developed the platforms for vans of 2,8 tonnes (TLF9 and TLF10) without stabilisers, ideals for works like maintenance of telephone sticks, semaphores, cameras CCTV or lighted up of low height. Also the TLF11, of 11,60 metres of height of work without stabilisers and basket for a person, allocated to vans of 3,5 t, perfect for works of public lighting, maintenance of gasolineras and telephony, among others a lot of works, with the advantage to be able to instrument with cabinets the interior of the van and have the enclosed material.
Today, two key concepts for sortear the crisis are ‘internationalisation' and ‘innovation'. With regard to the first, which level of export have attained already?
Big part of our manufacture finishes out of our country, already was direct or indirect export. Can say him in this regard that near of 60% of the machines manufactured the past year finished out of our borders.
In which countries have today a greater presence?
At present have distributors in Portugal, England, Poland, Islands Mauritius and Malta, although the one who our Spanish customers have work out of here also does that have machines in Africa, Middle East and Sudamérica.
For this 2013 the plans go through to establish us in France directly to be able to sell our new models of enclosed van TLF9, TLF10, TLF11, TLF12 and TLF13, the machines in Land Rover of 10,5, 12 and 13 metres of height of work, and the machines on chassis cabin of 14, 15 and 16 metres of height of work.
Have foreseen to short/half term expand by other parts of the world?
Are in research of distributors in the majority of countries of Europe. Thanks to our department of R&D are expanding our range of machines on enclosed van, designing them so that they are the most versatile possible, durable, easy to use and to keep, with components of maximum quality and with characteristics that do us stand out with regard to other similar products already existent.
What value more the professionals foráneos of the platforms Movex? Which competitive advantages would stand out of these machines with regard to other Italian or German signatures?
Movex, by have not gone out to sell out of Spain until does few years, is a little known mark out of our borders. The best form so that the companies that do not know our machines trust they and can see the big quality with that it knows them to him here in Spain, is to do demonstrations in situ through our distributors. These demonstrations are giving good fruit and a good perspective of our machines. The customers that test them remain very satisfied of our manufactured.
A recent sample is the road show that did in England with our distributor Powerlift UK. They did a lot of demonstrations with our reversionada machine on Land Rover Movex P130TL and with our enclosed van smaller and compact TLF9, being like this the customers viewers of the big quality of our machines and of the advantages that offer.
It considers that in the next year goes to be followed growing the proportion of international sales on the total? It is that one of his strategic lines?
Yes, the international sales go to be followed growing. they are doing Well the things and each day have more range to compete to international level. I want to stand out our form to do machines with good provision, high quality of the components and thought for a maximum length.
The another key factor that commented him is the one of the innovation. Since in 1980 Workshops Velilla manufactured the first platform on truck in Spain, the innovation has been an intrinsic value in the company. What last advances have attained in this sense?
As it commented previously, have gone evolving and taking out new models. We have created a wide range of enclosed van for vehicles of 2,8 t and 3,5 t, have increased the range of machines for vehicles 4x4 like the Land Rover Defend 130D with the models of 12 and 13 metres of height of work, etc.
Precisely in the last edition of Matelec showed the new platform on van Movex TLF9. How it is being received this product in the market?
Is a very versatile machine. By his characteristic is ideal for the maintenance of telephone sticks, installation and maintenance of cameras of hygiene, maintenance of lighted up in historical centres with a difficult access by narrow streets, maintenance of antennas, motors of air conditioned... It is a very compact machine, easy to use and very fast to the not using stabilisers. In Matelec there was a big expectancy and is a good version for international markets.
Memory, in this innovative vocation of which speak, that does time launched a platform that also could exert of crane. It is the polivalencia a factor in heaves by the crisis?
The model P150TLC has been one of our machines with more sales during the years 2003 – 2007. It is an ideal machine for the companies of public lighting although from the crisis has gone prevailing the price to the polivalencia and the sales have decanted to other models.
The same has occurred with our hybrid models, machines no contaminantes in where the logical did to think that the future is in these equipment, but that the reality of the market does that it prevail the price to the ecology.
It considers that the crisis can ‘favour' to the platform on truck to the detriment of the self-propelled (especially by the saving that supposes his transport)?
This crisis does not favour in at all although yes it is truth that has prejudiced more to the self-propelled platforms that to the platforms on truck by the fact that there was much more of those. Spain always has consumed the platforms on truck to a lower rhythm that our neighbouring countries and are convinced that every time it will go increasing his use, since it goes destined more to the maintenance that to the construction.
