PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification - recognition program of forest certification schemes) is a non-governmental, independent, non-profit and global scope, which promotes the sustainable management of forests for a social, economic and environmental balance of them.

The objective of the PEFC is to ensure that the world's forests are managed in a responsible manner, and that its many functions are protected for present and future generations. To do this it has the cooperation of owners and companies in the forest sector, that betting on the certification of forests and industries, are ensuring the sustainability of the sector.

PEFC provides a framework for the application of common standards agreed internationally, all their national certification systems, and forest managers and forest product processing companies.

Forest products (wood, paper, Cork, mushrooms, resins, essences...) certified by PEFC guarantee consumers they are buying products from sustainably managed forests. By choosing PEFC, buyers can help to combat illegal harvesting and foster the main functions that play forest resources such as:
