They create a new material laser with potential applications in biofotónica

A team of researchers of the Upper Council of Scientific Investigations (CSIC), the Universidad Complutense of Madrid and the University of the Basque Country has attained to develop a new material laser that improves the efficiency and the stability of the colorantes commercial that employ in biofotónica. This discipline, based in the creation of images, detection, analysis and manipulation of biological systems through the light, has applications in fields so diverse like the medicine, the agriculture or the environingingmental sciences.

The scientists have obtained for the first time an efficient and durable broadcast of light red laser thanks to the incorporation of two molecules colorantes that present confined in nanopartículas of látex disperse in water. The wavelength of the red light is key for the therapy fotodinámica, with uses, for example, in ophthalmology and dermatology.
