Failed the IV Prizes Suschem Young Chemical Researchers 2012

The jury of the fourth edition of the Prizes Suschem-Spain, with which pretends award a public recognition to the work of the young researchers in the field of the Chemicals in our country, failed the past 29 May said award in four categories. The paramount aim of these prizes, summoned by the Technological Platform Spaniard of Sustainable Chemicals (Suschem), is no only recognise but also support, promocionar and stimulate the scientific and informative activity between the young chemical researchers.

The instauration of these award, whose career initiated in 2009, is promoted by the Chemical Forum and Society, the Skilled Group of Youngsters of the Real Sociedad Spanish of Chemicals (JIQ), the Real Sociedad Spanish of Chemicals (RSEQ), the National Association of Chemists of Spain (Anque), the General Council of Schools of Chemists of Spain and the Business Federation of the Spanish Chemical Industry (Feique).

The jury has been conformed by Paloma Yáñez, treasurer of the Real Sociedad Spanish of Chemicals; Antonio Zapardiel, dean-president of the General Council of Schools of Chemists of Spain; Pilar Goya, vice-president of the Real Sociedad Spanish of Chemicals; Valentín González, member of the National Association of Chemists of Spain, María José López Tendero, coordinator of Nanomaterials of Aidico and manager of the Group of Materials and Nanotechnologies of SusChem – Spain, and like secretary, Cristina González, technical secretary of SusChem Spain.

The rewarded of this fourth edition are:

Innova

Reward to the best work (patent, scientific publication and/or project end of career or máster) developed from a collaboration between one or more companies and any agent of the network of technology (Public Organisms of Investigation, University or technological centre). The work presented has to have developed in the two last years in one or miscellaneous of the following areas related with the sustainable chemicals: industrial biotechnology, design of reactions and processes, new materials and nanotechnologies, and valorisation of waste.

The jury, chaired by. Antonio Zapardiel, president of the General Council of Schools of Chemists, has decided to award by unanimity this galardón to Francisco Javier War Navarro, doctor in Chemical Sciences by the University of Castile-La Mancha by his excellent work 'Dendrimers ace Non-Viral Vehicles for Gene Therapy'.

Likewise, the jury has declared finalists to Javier Velasco Turbau, graduate in chemicals by the University of Barcelona, by the work 'Synthesis and properties of ascorbyl esters catalyzed by Lipozyme TL IM using triglycerides ace acyl donors', and to Jesús Miguel Fernández Hernández, doctor in Chemicals by the Westfälisches Wilhems-Universität Münster, by his work 'Control of the Mutual Arrangement of Cyclometalated Ligands in Cationic Iridium(III) Complexes. Synthesis, Spectroscopy, and Electroluminescence of the Different Isomers'.

Predoc

Reward to the author of the best scientific publication, with number of page of 2011, in any area of the chemicals, and that was not in possession of the title of doctor to 31 December 2011. The jury, chaired by Pilar Goya, vice-president of the Real Sociedad Spanish of Chemicals, has decided to award by unanimity this galardón to Albert Ardevol Grau, graduate in Chemicals by the University of Barcelona, by his excellent scientific publication 'The molecular mechanism of enzymatic glycosyl transfer with retention of configuration: Evidence for to short-lived oxocarbenium-like species'.

Likewise, the jury has declared finalists to Francisco Juliá Hernández, graduate in Chemicals by the University of Murcia, by his work 'Synthesis of to Palladium(IV) Complex by Oxidative Addition of an Aryl Halide to Palladium(II) and Its Use ace Precatalyst in to C-C Coupling Reaction', and to Amparo Prades Ferrer, graduate in Chemical Sciences by the University Jaume I of Castellón, by his work 'Double C-H bond activation of C(sp3)H2 groups for the manufacturing of complexes with back-to-back bis-imidazolinylidenes'.

Postdoc

Reward to the author of the best scientific publication, with number of page of 2011, in any area of the chemicals, and that was in possession of the title of doctor to 1 January 2011. The jury, chaired by Paloma Yáñez, treasurer of the Real Sociedad Spanish of Chemicals, has decided to award by unanimity this galardón to Emilio Cook Pérez, doctor in Chemicals by the University of Valladolid, by his excellent scientific publication 'Sensing the anomeric effect in to solvent-free environingingment'.

Likewise, the jury has declared finalists to Susana Campuzano Ruiz, doctor in Analytical Chemicals by the Universidad Complutense of Madrid, by his work 'Functionalized micromachines for selective and rapid isolation of nucleic acid target from complex samples', to Jiang Jiuxing, doctor in chemicals by the Jilin University of China and the Polytechnical University of Valencia, by his work 'Synthesis and Structure Determination of the Hierarchical Meso-Microporous Zeolite ITQ-43', and to Josep Llaveria, soctor in Chemicals by the University Rovira i Virgili of Tarragona, by his work 'Z-Selective Catalytic Olefin Cross-Metathesis for Efficient Synthesis of Biologically Activate Natural Products'.

Future

Prize to the best academic file of the degree of chemicals, or any another degree related with the science and the chemical technology, and whose title had obtained in 2011. The jury, chaired by Valentín González, representative of the National Association of Chemists of Spain, has decided to award by unanimity this galardón to Cristina García Iriepa, graduate in Chemicals by the University of Alcalá de Henares, by the brilliant academic file accredited with a half qualification of 9,94 and 35 matrículas of honour.
