The UBE group and the company Ceca systems have chosen Toledo paraplegics National Hospital to assess the efficiency of a new reactor for disinfection of water in the therapeutic pool of hydrotherapy of the toledan health centre. September 30 was signed the agreement for collaboration by the director-general of UBE Europe GmbH, M. Katsuta, President of ECSC systems, JA.Toro, and the managing director of the health service of Castilla - La Mancha (SESCAM), j. Chacón. The application of this reactor and its subsequent analysis and evaluation of results will be made by scientists of the Higher Council of scientific research (CSIC), the Centre for research and technological development of the water (CIDTA, of the University of Salamanca), and professionals in the hospital. The photocatalysis is a process photochemical consisting of activation of a semiconductor material through a radiation whose intensity is capable of producing reactions of reduction and oxidation with organic matter, as it is the case of bacteria and other pathogens. This effect translates into a reduction of the degree of pollution of the species present in the system, for example the bacterium Legionella, improving the quality of the water without adding chemical agents.
